Payung Café is not your ordinary kopitiam that you normally patronise on daily basis. The café is located a few blocks away from Proton and Toyota Showrooms at Lanang Road. Anyway speaking of food, well, I'd say some dishes like its signature Payung rojak, Payung...fish rice, and mushroom carbonara spaghetti are decent, but distinctive and unconventional. Beverages are mediocre. In terms of service, fast and efficient since there aren't many patrons at the time. As for the atmosphere, its shabby chic style creates a soft vibe that is pleasant enough to dine in.More

They've done a bit of renovating to the place - more spacious now and as always, very uniquely special in its decor and ambiance. Other than lei cha (thunder tea) lunchtime on Thursdays and Fridays, they also have nasi biryani and nasi kerabu lunchtime on...weekends. Other favourites still available but I heard some have been taken off the menu. Still a great place to dine and to hang out!More

There are actually no complaints about food. Ordered mushroom soup, their signature mushroom rolls and some chicken dishes. Very rich flavor and herbs. But the menu is very limited. nothing to say. Comfortably placed, but without air conditioning. Overall, if more local cuisine ils available,...it could be a great cafe. Wo would recommend this excellent cafe to my friends. 我真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的真的很喜欢More

Located Lanang Road, the main business area of Sibu town .Kingwood Hotel as her background. The menu recipes are special, most of them self-created by owner who served healthcare foods . Hakka style "Lei-Cha" tea with seven kinds of vegetable mixtures is the great order.

No complaints about the food actually. Ordered mushroom soup, their signature mushroom rolls and some chicken dish. Pretty packed with flavour and herbs. But menu very limited. Nothing much to shout about. Place pretty cozy but no air cond. Overall, has potential to be a...great cafe if more local food can be served.More

I was really looking forward to dining at this restaurant because of the great write-up it got in my guide book. What a disappointment!!I arrived to dine at 5.50 pm-the restaurant opens at 6 pm.Staff were prompt and I placed my order. The mushroom soup arrived promptly...but it was watery and only lukewarm...I looked forward to a better main course....But it was not to be.Meanwhile a table of 5 or 6 people arrived and they placed their order....Time passed and then I noticed that all of them were served-eventhough I had arrived before them.I made two attempts to find out WHEN my food would be ready. At 6.40 pm I was told that my food was being prepared" just now"...I had been in the restaurant for almost an hour at this stage and all I had received was mushroom soup and a coke...I paid for those and left...A very disappointing experience.More

Worth a visit! On Fridays, it's well known for it " Thunder Rice" where it's known for it goodness and its cleanses the system. Be warned it's bitter. It needs to be pre-ordered. The dinner menu is not too bad in flavours and portion size.

Payung Cafe and its owner Peter Ting never fail to serve the most attractive and delicious food to its customers. Although the shop is small, situated in a small little corner fairly near the Rajang riverside, and within walking distance of three or four hotels,...it captures the imagination of gourmets and ordinary diners. All the dishes are recommendable. So check out its menu and its face book. It is really worth a visit and a good meal.More

My husband and I ate here on 2 occasions during our short 3-night stay in Kingwood Hotel in Sibu. It was a very short walk from the hotel as the cafe was just behind the car park of the hotel. We found the food to...be very tasty and unique! Our favorites are Mushroom roll, Payung rojak, Pomelo salad, Otak-otak and Payung Fish! We loved the cosy ambience and it was great to be able to relax and eat in a nice cafe at night The waiter from India was very pleasant and helpful in recommending their house specialties. The Chinese boss was friendly and apologetic when we had to wait a long time to be served on our second visit as they had a lot of customers then! We will definitely return if we ever find ourselves in Sibu again!More

Loved the food here and the friendly service, yes it's more expensive than the kopitans but the famous dishes of this place are unique. You can get a chicken chop anywhere. This is Sibu and during my years here this place was a gem.

We arrived earlier at 6pm and found a table easily. The service is fast and staffs are happy to answer questions and explain about the menu. We ordered Payung Salad, Mushroom Roll, Sambal anchovies. The food was superb not salty like other common restaurant in...Sibu. Will definitely return to try more dishes in future. Great ambience. A must try if you are in Sibu!More

We arrived quite early for dinner so the place was still rather empty, and food was served quickly. The herbs salad was nice, and big enough to share as a starter. The mushroom roll and the fish in banana leaf were a bit smaller, not...amazing but ok flavoured. What we enjoyed most was the mulu icecream, so don't forget to order that one! PS; the salad and the mushroom roll were both very heavy on the onions, so if you don't like these (as I do), be warned ;-)More
