The tempura was excellent--the batter was light and the fish fresh and delicate. But for the price I would have higher expectations.

Much as I am a fan of Sushi Omakase, I have decided to try out Tenchi Hoten for its traditional tempura for a change. The entrance of Tenichi was a bit plain and one may not have thought this is a tempura eatery for eighty odds years. We were led to the basement and sat at the tempura counter and... More

This restaurant was a great choice for trying authentic tempura. We selected the mid-tier set course menu, which included snow crab, scallop, oyster, several shrimp, fish, and vegetables. The pieces were cooked perfectly - crisp and light. The chef was friendly (although we didn't speak Japanese). The pieces are cooked individually, so you aren't eating everything at once. The pace... Batter is heavy, and tempura is greasy. Shrimps are not fried crisp, one of the worst I had. Anago is greasy. None of the vegetables were savory, bad selection. 15.000 Yen per person is rip off for foreigners. Just pick any in Tabelog over 3.5 and you will have incomparable experience for less than 10.000 Yen. reach out to over... More

The restaurant has very good tumpura. I will talk about the courses menu because that what I tried. First there are 3 courses to choose from 9,000¥ , 11,000¥ and 14,000¥. I got the 14,000¥ and my wife got the 9,000¥. The only difference between them are in the 14,000 you will get one extra fish, different vegetables and a... More

A perfect place for lunch. We had both the set menu and a la carte menu and was seated at the counter. Sitting at the counter gave us the opportunity to point and pick which items we wanted to try. The flexibility of the a la carte menu is very good and it gives the flexibility to have as much... More

Can't deny the tempura is tasty. For me it isn't worth the price tag for a simple lunch. Most high end tempura restaurants appear to be priced similarly. I might try a less well known one toencounter fewer tourists....then again, I probably will won't go on my own dime again.

Absolutely delish, all the tempura served was amazing - crisp yet succulent and the batter didn't take away the flavors of the star, be it the prawns, scallops, vegetables, etc The chef will prepare each item fresh for your consumption, so everything is lightly crisp and warm, ready to be experienced. Two set menus on offer that makes it easier... More
