Went for lunch from my nearby office. Got Sawara yuzukayaki, or grilled Spanish Mackerel with yuzu. Other species of grilled fish were offered, either simply salted, or marinated with miso, etc. All simple, delicious, and of course served with rice. These lunch specials were 1100 to 1400 yen...very affordable. We added to this with some simple sliced fish that was... More

Fish with crispy grilled skin that melts in your mouth. My favorite kind of meal: simple, fresh, and beautifully done. Lunch 1100 ¥ to 1500¥, depending on fish. I think the menu had about 5 choices. Includes grilled fish, soup, rice, pickles, a little veggie, and tea. Dining room is sleek and zen, although busy at lunchtime. Dreaming about our... More

We were recommended this place by a local. Whilst it took a little effort to find the place it was well worth it. It's on a corner and down stairs. For an English speaking customer you just need a little patience to order, but they are really willing to help. We had assorted sashimi, grilled wagu, grilled chicken, grilled fish,... More

Hidden away down a slightly obscure staircase, Yanmo is a little difficult to find. A friend first took us there on our last visit and it was at the top of our list of places for lunch this time. We have only eaten lunch there so I can't comment on evening prices but lunch is fantastic value for a truly... More

Staying in Akasaka / Roppongi

Neighbourhood Profile
Akasaka / Roppongi
Not so long ago the Akasaka and Roppongi areas were famous for their nightlife, high-class restaurants, bars and clubs. More recently, with the opening of Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Midtown and Akasaka Sacas, the area has declared itself as the most fashionable spot to be seen. The area also hosts the National Art Center and the Mori Art Museum and lots of trendy art galleries.
