We were in the queue for 20 minutes before we managed to get a seat during lunchtime. There was an English menu, and the service level was excellent. The waitress plated the tempura on our plates delicately and beautifully. We ordered the 6-piece set and the seafood (prawn, squid, fish) as well as the vegetable tempura were very delicious. Really... More

We tried this place, first night in Tokyo. It was quiet and pretty and the staff were lively. There was an English menu and the food was well priced and delicious. Was easy to find, we came in on the train and turned the corner out of the station and recognised immediately from the pictures. Would recommend to give this... More

We went with my fussy grandma but the staff were super accommodating and kind. They were awesome. The food was delicious. The miso had clams or something and wasn't that good, but the tempura and sashimi were amazing.

I'd rather be sitting at the counter watching the chefs prepare and cook the tempura. But the counter was full when our party of three arrived and we were invited to the dining room upstairs. We ordered the 1380 yen set lunch from the Japanese menu. This 'daily special' option is not available in the English menu. It came with... More

As the lass is vegetarian and I'm not that fussed with fish, we went with the vegetarian sharer and it was delicious. Could have done without the green tea jelly dessert, but in all, a very enjoyable meal. Staff very helpful.

Short wait to get in at lunch. If you get tempura: 1. Mix soy sauce with the paste (excuse my ignorance) 2. You use this mix for dipping. Don't mistake the waiter's instructions and pour it on your rice! He laughed and kindly brought me some more. 3. Enjoy the best tempura you've ever had cooked in front of you... More

It was little difficult to find (I recommend using the pictures on the reviews here) but well worth searching for. This was our first night in Japan and felt like a great way to experience some local cuisine in a traditional atmosphere, sat at the bar watching the chefs frying tempura in big vats of bubbling oil. The staff had... More

Difficult to describe but it was light, not greasy and consequently flavorful. But try other menu items as they are all exceptional. Very helpful staff. We tried to call for a reservation and then asked the hotel to try. In both instances we were told they were full and we would have to wait, probably an hour. When we got... More

The place is a little hard to find, due to the external signage only being in Japanese. Once inside they can provide English menus. To make life even easier they have some set menus available to give you a good range. The food is amazing, and is quite enjoyable to watch the preparation and cooking of the food. Be aware... More

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
