Located in the basement of Shinjuku's Park tower, this Excelsior is part of Doutor Coffee Group. The atmospere was quiet, fresh and modern. We enjoyed a good cup of coffee- not excellent- but better than most places. Smokers had a special room, we like that. Bring back your tray and the staff will be happy:)

The spicy chocolat was really good. Had it without the whipped cream, perfect. The french toast and brewed coffee were good too. Staff were very friendly.

The Excelsior Cafe, despite being a chain store, has the best coffee we experienced in Tokyo. The food is good, but not many hot options for breakfast. I guess not a Westerner's usual breakfast. But definitely recommend the coffee, and a quiet place to prepare yourself for the day.

The coffee was a bit weak and the food selection somewhat limited, but it was an OK place to start the day at a much more moderate price than the hotel itself which is above it.

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
