Although it is the oldest bar in Japan and has a history of over 100 years, the inside seems to be a well-established western dishes restaurant. Because the number of seats is quite large and some customers have light meals, there are...More

Kamiya Bar is a very old established place in Asakusa. You must visit if you are staying locally. There are several floors but the main bar is at ground level. As you go in, you go to the counter and choose your drink, and food,...More

Great bar, supposedly the oldest western bar in Tokyo (since 1880) but surprisingly with very few if any westerners. We had the signature Denki Bran snaps:ish and a beer. Great place to hang out In a completely in-fancy way! PS: You order and pay at...More

Went as it came up in a few guide books. You order and pay on arrival on ground floor, receive tokens, find a sit then give your tokens to the server. Once I'd worked this out had a great time. Tried the Denki Bran, sort...More

We went to Kamiya as we really wanted to sample the special Denki Bran - the legendary cocktail of Asakusa. It did not disappoint and I liked it very much. We didn't have any food as we had already eaten. The place was very cheerful...More

We stopped in this place due to a mention in the guide book. The second floor has the bar/restaurant area. This was described as a western style bar, which is accurate but we were the only westerners in the place - which was quite enjoyable....More

Poor quality food and unfriendly service. We went here based on a travel book recommendation regarding old time atmosphere. We saw none of what was described. There are hundreds of much better choices in the same neighborhood.

This is one of thousands of small restaurants around Tokyo with their plastic displays of food in the front window. I found this curious but very helpful. Our group had dumplings, miso, noodles, soup, and stir fry. Some chicken and pork was added in. We...More

We were at the end of our 2 week Japan trip and wanted something different. Great bar atmosphere and the food was excellent!

This is one of the oldest bars in town. Drinks are reasonable for Tokyo and there is a good selection. Large vodka rum (ram) for 430 and try the electric brandy for 270. High alcohol and very nice flavor. The food selection is good. Nothing...More

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
