Loads of room good decoration, good food and walker friendly. It is a really good place to make a pitstop after a few miles along hadrians wall. It is still a long way to go after that. Good tip if you are on the PW about 5 1/2 miles to howton Green Bothy best bothy on the route by far..

As previous reviews, we found that the service was rather slow and the staff did not really seem that interested in serving us for most of the evening. However, the food was superb with coley, chicken stuffed with haggis and steaks enjoyed by all with lovely veg. The puddings were also delicious and the cheese and biscuits the biggest we... More

Limited menu with barely no choice for vegetarians. Drinks overpriced. Certainly would not return!!!

Lovely interior with a wood burning stove and a varied and interesting menu. Lots of vegetarian options - I had the cheese souffle and the mushroom in filo pastry with tarragon sauce - really excellent. Good service too.

In fairness to this place, despite it's somewhat unappealing exterior, it is internally a very clean and airy place which has been well modernised. On the downside, service is not good. Waited a long while to be served a drink at the bar and staff served whoever was nearest to them as opposed to in order of wait. My wife... More

We were in cold Northumberland for Vindolanda and naturally had to stop for a pint at the Inn. The pint turned into lunch, and it was excellent. The place has changed a bit since we stayed overnight during a Hadrian's Wall hike in 2014, but it hasn't lost its quirky charm and warmth.

Stayed here for the 'star gazing' evening, which was very good with a well planned format and an excellent, informative presenter in Richard Darn, who had brought two telescopes and a range of binoculars to take full advantage of the low level of light pollution in this rural area and greater visibility of the stars. The bar serves superior pub... More
