The fish was fresh but the overall quality of cooking was just average. A bit expensive compared to the average but in line with other very touristic locations.

Before leaving 19.00 in Brindisi I did a last trip from Taranto to the south east following the sea. I was in time for lunch at this very agreeable place. Although there are many tourists in this seaside town the food here tasted authentic, the portions were good, the price was right. I had a plate of raw seafood (oyster,... More

Food and service were very acceptable. In combination with the view from the terrace it is a recommendable restaurant. We had lunch.

Lovely food, fresh and taste fish. We had a wonderful lobster served in a pink rum sauce made by brilliant Salvo. I would also give my best compliments to cooking boys (Marco and Fabrizio).. At last but not least.. our table was by the sea..Al Gambero is an opportunity which we must make good use of and not allow to... More

I was surprised how good my two lunches hanpve been at Al Gambero this week after reading several of the reviews. The staff has been more than helpful and when they realized my limited Italian they made sure I was given a waiter who spoke English well. The carpaccio of swordfish was delicious as was the pasta with cozze.....however the... More

The swordfish carpaccio was decent, the orecchiette with seafood was so-so, and the fried seafood plate wasn't very good. But the food was overshadowed by the terrible service. The waiters refused to take orders for the first course until our appetizers were served, and then again for the second course. This would make more sense if the food were prepared... More

Staying in Italy over the New Year we happened upon the Al Gambero restaurant when we stopped to take a walk around the harbour at Porto Cesareo. It specialised in seafood, which is hardly surprising given its name and location however the atmosphere and the quality of the food were superb. From a fresh fish anti pasta starter, through prawn... More
