A girlfriend raves about the custard slice and so I finally decided to stop and try it. Well she was right, best custard slice. The seafood chowder was delicious and staff very friendly. Worth the stop and takeaway available if in a hurry.

Have stopped here many times and the food was great. Not this time. Coffee was warm and weak. Egg bene holindase sauce tasted like it was made from a packet. Service was only just average this time.

Just off the main street, sunny outside seats, staff are well presented and were prompt to take orders, food well presented and of a high standard, well priced. Good selections of coffee and other drinks.

Thanks Reds for a lovely meal. Staff were delightful and the meal Devine. The cafe well presented and is set back off the main road so is nice and quiet.

Last week a group of 19 friends had a prebooked dinner meal. The food was well presented and tasted very good. This was let down badly by the waiting staff, while the two young women were well presented, polite and friendly they completely lacked any service skills. When our orders finally arrived, after a very long wait, they would stand... More

The food and the presentation were good. Despite having to order at the service counter and pay immediately (which should accelerate the whole process of having a meal at a Café) we had to wait near 30 minutes to be served despite the fact the place was not overly busy at 1:30 in the afternoon.

This cafe was one of the few open between Xmas and New Year (on 28 December ) in Otaki and was consequently very busy. Nevertheless, they coped brilliantly, had a table with no problem (there are plenty in an adjacent space), served our breakfast and coffee without delay and and were obliging in all respects. Well done Reds. The bacon... More

I think it's run by the same people who had the Red cafe (which burned down). When we went it was the Christmas break, so perhaps that's why it was so busy, but we were told it would be a 20 minutes wait for four drinks and three slices! When the order came, it was wrong! (but a replacement drink... More
