Visited this lovely old building on a sunny February afternoon. Loved the vegetable and lentil soup. My daughter thought the cheese scones were great, and my mother enjoyed the coffee and walnut cake.

This place is clearly popular. Seeming in the middle of "nowhere", there was a constant stream of customers while we were there. The first time we had the soup and toastie deal. Two choices of soup - both of which were delicious; and a toastie packed with fillings. You do have to pay if you want more than one filling... More

Called into this tearoom yesterday after a long walk by the riverside. Staff were so welcoming as soon as we walked in and were really helpful in selecting coffee and delicious cakes. The history of the tearoom and the area is on posters around the main room which adds a great touch. Coffee and cakes were delicious.

Got coffee and cake here today and it was lovely. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Made me a coffee not on the menu to make it as I like it. Coffee was delicious and lemon drizzle cake was moist and tasty. The decor is beautiful as it is inside an old church and cafe is clean and very well looked... More

We love the ambience in the White Monk, the wood-burner is welcoming after a chilly walk on the moors. Staff are very friendly and helpful, service is quick at tea-time when we go. Excellent choice of teas and the scones are perfect. The dogs get their own treats too.

Stopped for some coffees after a Sunday morning walk. A lovely building in a lovely setting but just felt it could have been fab with a bit of imagination- information boards in the back room had a homemade feel of a school project. A range of coffees, other than a caffteriere would have been preferable.

We called in for lunch following a mornings walk on Blanchland moor. We easily found a table and had soup and a roll followed by a scone, tiffin and a pot of tea. Well worth a visit.

Been here a few times over the last six months or so. Staff are always friendly and attentive and the food on offer has always been first rate. They have a range of specials which seem to be different on each visit. The place is an ideal stop for a cuppa and a cake or maybe a warmed scone or... More
