Reminded me of a bad school dinner, tasteless. Just don't believe they have a chef in the kitchen as the food was bland, very basic. All the starter options were just deep fried!!! So disappointing. Pub probably OK to go for a drink, but don't...More

Had a lovely walk around the Hurley area and popped in the Rising Sun for lunch. The pub was very quiet. I had the rump steak which was cooked to perfection and had a lovely flavour. It was very reasonably priced. I would recommend without...More

We had the good fortune to stop off in Hurley whilst travelling on our boat and decided to have dinner at the Rising Sun. The meal was superb, my husband had a perfect rump steak and my Cajun chicken was cooked to perfection. Loved it....More

Stopped off here for lunch, wish we hadn’t. Lovely pub in a lovely village but poor quality food. Deep fried ‘smooth’ sausages, chips didn’t taste like they were cooked in very fresh oil, slimy ham, just very low quality ingredients. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Lovely olde world pub in a great location! Very small car park adjacent to the pub but there is car parking on the road. Sunny (when it's out!) patio at the rear - which is dog friendly - water bowl provided. Reasonable selection of beers...More

Took the opportunity to check out The Rising Sun on a recent trip to the UK. Thought about trying the Olde Bell just up the road, however when I telephoned they seemed rather disinterested in my business. So the Rising Sun was the go...... Not...More

Lovely pub in a great setting, there was parking available in their car park-otherwise you can park on the street. We went on a sunny Saturday, the garden was pretty full but we managed to get a nice table in the sun! The pub is...More

I am aware that the pub has undertaken new management within the last week or so. We were so excited to go and meet the new team and to see what was happening with the new regime. However, it was truly dreadful. There was no...More

Clean, warm, cosy, friendly, relaxing , set in the beautiful old village of Hurley. The village dates back to 700 ad and is recorded in the Domesday, the old church is still standing which was once the nave to the old Priory until 1536 when Henry Vlll dissolved the Monasteries. The River Thames is just 4 min walk from the Rising Sun. Built around 1830 the pub is a big favorite with walkers, ramblers, boating people alike. There is a fantastic caravan and camping site just down the road, which is among the top 5 sites in the UK for static, mobile and camping. We have a village shop, a church and a small B&B. The village is heaving in the summer months with tourists enjoying the camping and picnic areas right on the River Thames.Soft comfortable chairs and settees, log fire for the cold winter months. Home cooked and prepared traditional pub food plus specials, 4 ever changing real ales from local brewer's and a selection of lagers.
