Nice little tea room. You can sit on the green or at the tables overlooking the river. Either area is beautiful. Thorpness is a little gem!

Beautiful setting for this cafe. We sat outside in the seating provided. We were very well looked after by the staff we carried the drinks out for me before our meals arrived. The dogs were offered water but they were enjoying the Suffolk ham more. The food was well presented and tasty. The Suffolk cured ham was a bit too... More

Looking at the menu you think £2.95 for cappuccino and £8.95 for Ham chips and beans are a little on the pricey side. The quality too was mediocre for this price. However the nail in the coffin is that it's not even the true price, as you get hit for the 20% VAT after you commit to pay. Leaving a... More

A lovely little cafe. We stopped off for an afternoon cake stop on a family trip to Thorpeness and I had the orange lemon, lime drizzle cake which was delicious. My husband loved his cheesecake and the our boys demolished their ice creams. Good friendly service too.

As soon as we arrived at the Meare we were in need of a hot drink so called here for a refreshing cup of coffee. It was quite busy so decided to sit outside in the sunshine. We had a scone with jam and cream which was very fresh and tasty. Looking at the menu we thought there was a... More

This is in a lovely location in a prime position overlooking the lake. Good grub, good portions and good service, with reasonable prices.

Lost count of the number of times we have visited the Meare café but every time the food is excellent and staff and very polite and service is quick. The quiches are superb and one of the best I have had and the kids always want the Sausage as they both agree they are the best in Suffolk!!

Good cup of coffee, yummy salted caramel cake and plenty of outside seating so you can watch the rowing boats and swans if you're lucky enough to have as beautiful a sunny day as we did.

If you are spending a day in Thorpeness, you will need coffee, tea, lunch, etc. So it's either the Meare Shop and Tea Room, or the Kitchen. Choose both! The Meare Shop and Tea Room is right on the bank of the Meare, with tables inside and out. Friendly staff, prompt and a good selection of cakes. Not to mention... More
