Been here few times for drinks but first time had a meal. Me and my partner had Roast Dinner and we very much enjoyed it. Staff are very friendly and always welcoming too. Will be visiting again.

Have eaten at the Hare on many occasions since living locally for ten years. Good menu with varied choice for all tastes. Starter of Beetroot cured salmon was good, needed some extra acidity, followed by lamb shank that could have used some more seasoning. Sticky toffee pudding was excellent. The interior of the restaurant is looking a bit tired as... More
Visited The Hare for Sunday lunch with my picky 15 year old son. We were met by the landlord who made us feel welcome and chatted to us at the end of the meal. Friendly, smiley waitress who took our order quickly without making us feel pressurised. It was busy but we were not rushed. The pub is traditional in... More
Situated in the heart of the Valley of the Racehorse, with racing inevitably showing on the bar's telly. We went on a midweek lunchtime, and just had 2 courses. My wife pronounced her fish pie excellent, and thoroughly heated. I had tuna with sweet chilli sauce, plenty of tuna with a fairly meagre salad. The tuna was rarer than I would... More
The food is good, but not great. It lacks the finishing touches, it often feeling like the chef set up a good menu and then left a group of amateurs to it. This would be fine if it was not so expensive. So what I am saying is that it is VERY over priced. Fine dining prices, but not fine... More
Went for a family meal and despite the table being checked in the morning, it wasn't set when we arrived. Food was good but could so easily be excellent! I had scallops with mango salsa for starter, this should have read Mango salsa with scallops (2 in fact) They weren't cooked brilliantly and weren't hot and feel that should have... More
Visited here as a treat with my hubby. First visit here and initial thoughts were it looks nice. Had 2 courses. Food arrived in a timely manner and presentation was good. Actual food could have been better. First course was caked in cranberry sauce which took away the delight in having deep fried brie. Second course found the fish pie... More
Food not as tasty or as good as other visits, staff seem to be more interest in messing around and chatting than serving
Whilst driving along we spotted this location and decided to take a chance and stop for lunch. Totally unaware what we were getting, we walked in and found the friendliest of greetings and the most relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. The server was a charming gentleman and the service we received was second to none. The food was quick and tasted... More
Sunday lunch on a really nice sunny lawn. Cracking setting. Beef in the roast lunch was chewy but everything else was really well done. Certainly not a cheap option on food or drink. Not sure if I detected an edge in the landlords demeanour but the waitress was faultless. Nice spot
