I always try to visit the George when I'm in Sussex and it seems to get better every time. Very friendly staff, their level of service really makes the place!

We have been regular visitors to the George over a number of years, but it has gone downhill in the last few months, which is very sad as it was one of our favourite places. On the last two or three occasions we visited, the food has been ok but not up to the usual standard, and noticeably the staff... More

My wife left a message to indicate that this pub was "lovely but very busy". She indicated the kitchen was shut when we arrived at 1:30pm, but the manager has responded basically saying my wife was misinformed. However I can assure you that I, my wife and my father-in-law had all spoken to a manger and a lady behind the... More

Four of visited here for Sunday lunch. We did not eat until mid-afternoon which made the parking ok. We could not fault the food whatsoever. Three of us had the yummy roast beef and the other the pork, which had very little fat on it. After beautifully presented starters and a large main course only one of our party had... More

Enjoyed our visit, nice big round table in the window . Lovely burger and large sticky toffee pudding. Thanks for looking after us.

We are not regular visitors, but have eaten here on a number of occasions over the last few years. We have always enjoyed ourselves - the pub is always very busy with a really good ambience. There is an excellent selection of beers, wines, etc. The menu is not particularly large however it is always interesting. The specials change regularly... More

Visited the George on a Sunday evening. Service was excellent and the food matched the service. It is not the cheapest place to eat, but the quality is well worth paying for. Four of us dined here, each having different starters, mains and of course puds! All of us agreed that that the food was spot on.

Lots of people say The George is the best pub in West Sussex. Now I know why! Can't fault the food - starters were delicious, especially the baked Camembert and tuna carpaccio but it was the fish and chips for lunch that really blew us away. Not had anything in the same league for as long as I can remember!... More

Superb location in small village in the midst of the South Downs. Parking is extremely limited. Good menu at high prices. Food we had was quite good but not worth the money or the wait. Not worth the effort.

Met family here for lunch but after arriving just after 1.30pm on a Sat was told they had shut the kitchens as they were too busy. We had drinks and waited a while hoping they would reopen but after a while decided to find somewhere else to eat. Very disappointing as the food looked lovely. Also don't be deceived by... More

This unique 17th century Inn houses a wonderful British restaurant and pub. You'll find it at the heart of the delightful Sussex village of Burpham, just 4 km from historic Arundel, surrounded by the glorious South Downs National Park. The menus are classic “best of British” food with a modern twist. Everything is home cooked with the freshest seasonal ingredients, locally sourced where possible. That means the specials menu changes all the time, so your tastebuds will always be delighted. Open for lunch 12-2 or 12-3 weekends, and from 6pm for dinner. Great wine menu and local Real Ale. This is a very family friendly place; well-behaved dogs are welcome to sit under the table in the pub area whilst you dine. Groups, weddings and private parties love it here and come back year after year. Bookings are recommended especially for Sunday lunch as it's always very busy.
