Visited at lunchtime with a few friends. Food and drinks were excellent. Service was great and the decor was very quirky. The prices were great and the only down side was the place was freezing. We had to put on our jackets and when we went to toilet it was Baltic

plumped for celeriac soup which i really enjoyed was creamy and buttery well seasoned. For my main went for the burger. Nice juicey thick beef burger in a soft bun with all the salad, dips and fries which i enjoyed and all was nicely cooked. overall enjoyed my meal and it was worth the money but it just didn't wow... Went their one Saturday evening for mother's birthday: service great, location great, price not bad, lots of choice. Very sadly, the crab lasagne and even the salad was overpoweringly salty. Thus ruined meal for us. They let themselves down, particularly as staff tried so hard.......

Lamb was cooked perfect, however the rest of the dish just did not do it for me, mint sauce was overpowering just like that you get in the jars and the haggis crumble was dry and tasteless. Overall nice decor friendly staff and average food.

What an amazing place. Can't believe nobody's told me about this little gem in the heart of Boldon. It has a warm welcoming ambience, open fires and the quirkiest decor ever- I could have entertained myself all night just taking in the surroundings. The food was great. Piping hot too. An eclectic mix of dishes, sure to please any palate.... More

This quirky little pub/gastropub is more than worthy of a visit by anyone living in or around Boldon! The food is a cut above your average pub grub, yet the prices really aren't that much higher than a lot of bog standard pubs. The 'Soup and a Main for £10' is especially good value, as you get some really interesting... More

A cold, dark January night was lit up by our first visit here in a long time. This is splendid pub/eatery, with quirky furnishings, good cask beers, and, most important, excellent food. An early evening 2-course for £10 seemed like a good idea, and it was. First course was soup or soup - celeriac and stilton, or pea and ham.... More
