We wanted to eat somewhere while driving around Cabot trail. This seemed like the perfect place. It's a little restaurant and even though it's quiet Windy on the cliff they are located on its warm inside. If you can take the wind I would suggest...More

Took at chance on this place and glad we did. The best fish and chips I had on our trip to CB and the seafood linguine were amazing. I loved the down to early, no nonsense atmosphere. The staff was so lovely. Outside, there views...More

Still reeling from an unfulfilling and disappointing culinary experience at our last stop on the Cabot Trail, my husband and I were primed to have a delicious meal. Well, we found one! The Chowder House was not a place we planned to visit but the...More

We had supper here this time. There were four of us and we each tried something different...lobster roll, fish and chips, fish dinner special, crab sandwich. Everything was great as always. This has become our go to place to dine when in the area. Every...More

My husband and I stopped here even though we had read some not so stellar reviews. I can't speak to other dishes but the seafood platter was fantastic! It had about a pound of muscles, a whole lobster, 2 sets of crab legs, 8-10 medium...More

I stayed in Neil's Harbour on a recent trip to CB and had take out food from this restaurant for dinner one evening. There are limited options in this little fishing village so this restaurant is about the only game in town for eating out...More

This is where you want to be on a cold and blustery day. Good fish chowder or a hardy burger sets the tone as you sit on the tip of the Cabot Trail in Neil's Harbour. The ChowChow was wonderful. They even had Sussex Ginger...More

Highly recommended to us and we were pleased. The view is very nice and the seafood platter for 2 was lovely and very tasty. Very casual so wear your flip flops.

We had a terrible experience here and reading the other reviews it seems this isn't uncommon. We were told that waiting for a table would be a very long wait so we should do the take out service. After 45 mins we still hadn't got...More

OVERVIEW: W e stopped for lunch here. I should note that we almost never eat lunch “out” on our holidays, we usually prefer to picnic. The reviews convinced us to make an exception. PROS: Excellent seafood, especially shellfish (except, we think, the mussels). We shared...More

We plan on closing Oct 15. We are open 11:30 am until 6:30 pm. Sorry, we do not serve breakfast.
It is unfortunate you feel this way. I am the waitress you are referring to. I had offered each and every customer that arrived at the restaurant that day to be seated in the cooler section. Unfortunately there were no tables available at that time and people waiting to be seated.. They preferred to sit in the section that had the best view as did yourself with your group. There was only one lady in the group of 6 that was uncomfortable and I did keep checking her. The others in her group were fine. The gentlemen with her also thanked me for the wonderful service. Their food was ready to be served and we were not to have people moving to tables (with food in their hands). We are very small and try our best to accommodate each and every patron. We always go over and above what is expected of us. As for "seniors beware" we host residents from the nursing home every year and they are treated with the utmost respect. We hope you do return to our restaurant and as they were before, circumstances will be friendly and accommodating. We appreciate each and every comment that it placed on this site. I am certified with Tourism Nova Scotia and have worked in the Hospitality Industry for a total of 20 years. There is always room for improvement in any business no matter what the circumstance. When you return we will treat you and each person young and old equally as we always do. Thank you for your patronage. I hope your next visit to Cape Breton will be a pleasurable one.

This was not my review. I had no trouble with any of the staff which I indicated--just the food--probably the worst I had in Nova Scotia during our three week vacation. We were a couple.
