Excellent dinner of sansai soba and ebony tempura sitting on the tatami mats. The serve of tsukemono was most generous.

We had a 15 minute wait for this delicious simple Japanese food. The service was quick and friendly and our family enjoyed the kaarage, soba, tempura, wild greens and edamame. Would recommend if you like the above.

Came here for my 50th birthday family dinner and it felt like I was visiting a relative's home! They did not treat you as a diner but more as family! The food was fantastic (the sobu noodles were amazing) and the ambience made you really feel like you were a traditional japanese. A must visit for foodies! Make sure you... More

My family and I went to Hakuba for a family Christmas. We stumbled upon Maeda one day by accident. And I became our favourite place. We had a variety of meals, and each time the food was exceptional. Service was fantastic. Although no one in my family speaks any Japanese, and staff don't speak much English we managed to communicate.... More

Tasty food, generous serves & value for money. The tempura was delicious & everyone enjoyed the pork udon noodles. The restaurant was packed & with people waiting for tables bookings are highly recommended. There is no wine on the drinks list so we had beer & sake instead. An enjoyable meal & we would return to Maeda.

Wow a huge meal wHat you need after skiing. Really popular early, opens 5.30pm we needed the early time as with kids. Only waited 10min. Most noodle meals $10 aud huge. Try the tempura vegetables as a side. Very quick service. We had beef, tempura prawn and pork dishes, $45aud for 4. Yimmo

The waiters are super friendly and the food is fresh and tasty. They mostly serve udon, soba noodles, tempura and some katsu. The prices were reasonable and the miso soup that accompanied my meal was delicious.

renovated Machiya restaurant good selection of basic but tasty Japanese fare (soba, donburi, etc). restaurant is always busy but swift service follows once seated food is reasonably priced, alternative for regular or bigger portion despite being very popular, maintains a very humble demeanor which is synonymous with Japanese value ; pride in their craft

The kind folks at Asuka booked us in here, and we were shown to a traditional low table. Service was excellent. We both ordered the noodle set, came with plenty of pickles, rice, dumplings as well as a huge bowl of noodles. It must have been good as it was basically a meat-free meal and my husband didn't complain at... More

Really poor food quality, even for a cheap eat. Pork dinner set inedible . Noodle soup so full of noodles it was ver disappointing in light of the positive reviews . Chicken karaage very fatty and tempura very oily.
