We have been coming here for years, and again this holiday we drove to Ole for dinner. 1st and foremost their C19 precautions are the best in Puerto Rico. They insist you use a face covering whilst moving about, and use hand sanitiser when you arrive. BRILLIANT The cook has been here a long time, his food is good. The portions are some times too big, but if you pay €15 for something and leave some, who cares, rather that then €15 and very small. Drinks choice is good. The provide for everyone, kids menu, pizza, pasta, steak, grill, fish, paella etc. at night Tapas and snacks during the day. Sat on the terrace, in the sun, watching the busses swing by, and people watching is a great afternoon. Try it you may like it. 1 comment - reading the reviews - they don't serve popadoms or curries so I think the review complaining about the popadoms and pickle tray needs removing David !

Just Average Food

My husband and I visited Ole 3 times and gradually the food and service deteriorated. We were staying at the Idyll suites next door, but the restaurant at the hotel was closed for the first week of our 2 week holiday, so we ate out elsewhere each night and most of the second week too. The food was a bit hit and miss at times. Never consistency in flavour, temperature or portion size. It was quite expensive for average food. On our third and last visit the old man removed our half full bottles of Bud whilst we were talking to the younger waiter and when we mentioned this to the old man when he came back to the table next to us, he just shrugged and put both hands up as if to say, so what! The younger man relaced these with 2 new ones, but the old man then changed his approach to us. I asked about the carbonara at the time we ordered our starters and mains, and if it was lean bacon. The old man said yes and I asked for mushrooms to be included, which they did do. However, there was only about 10% lean bacon and the rest was fat. I complained to the old man and without going into too much detail, he argued with me constantly, even though I showed him my dish with all the fat put round the edge! See photo. I asked for some cooked lean bacon so I could add it to the dish, but this never arrived. I left most of it and he never batted an eye lid when he collected my dish later. This old man needs to retire or not work in a customer facing role in the restaurant, as he is awful. He greets customers with that old outdated greeting: "hello my friend" but then treats you like dirt. We would never ever visit this restaurant again if we went back to Playa Del Cura.

The best experiences at our vacation

We went to this restaurant the first night ( sept.21 ) in Playa del Cura. The food is so good, the prices are fair, and the staff is so friendly, that we just had to come back again. We ended up eating there every night at our stay in Gran Canaria, and even on the first night in the storm, they did their best to make the guests feel comfortable and safe, having a good time, good food and some laughs. Our daughter also had the best time, and suggested herself that we should go back there every evening to eat. Even the day, when we desided to have a trip to Puerto de Mogan, we desided to go back to Playa del Cura, and eat at Olé ! You will not be dissapointed if you are looking for good food, friendly staff, and a nice place to spend your evening. Also the drinks and desserts are wonderfull. We tried a lot of different things from the menu, and were never dissapointed! But we will especcially reccomend their steaks, they are tender and with a lot of taste, and made perfectly. We will come back again for sure, when we have saved enough money to go back to this beautifull island again. Also, remember, the retsaurants and bars really need the tourists to come and spend a little money having some good times and enjoy this sunny island! Myself and my friend have just been in this place we arrived at around 9pm and were welcomed with open arms we had no idea it closed at 10pm we proceeded to enjoy our evening even though the canarian tapas dish we choose wasn't anything to write home about and there was absolutely no atmosphere. Come 10.30pm we were about to ask for the bill when the waiter (same one that welcomed us) announced abruptly that the restaurant closed at 10pm and that it was 10.30 he proceeded to clear our plates from the table bearing in my mind other guests had only just left a few minutes before we were a little taken aback - Don't be disappointed and go here. We can highly recommend Guantanomo down the road if you are looking for an authentic Spanish restaurant with excellent food value for money, friendly service and a great atmosphere

.What a terrible, terrible place. No attempt by staff to say “hello”, or be nice. Popadoms were not nice. Only 3 generic sauces. We ordered two sizzler plates. €5.50 for 4 small pieces of chicken, total rip off. Main course curry’s were half potato and half chicken!!! Trying to palm off meat at potato! It was ‘hunt the meat’ already. It feels like this restaurant is doing everything possible to con you out of your meal. The local beers are tiny bottles. We walked away feeling as if we had walked into a tourist trap and had been totally ripped off. Please Avoid.

We visited this restaurant twice, first time on the night we arrived (late, due to the bus being held up), but were welcomed and seated in the outdoor part. We shared a bottle of red wine which went down a treat - house red but smooth and full of flavour. I had chicken breast in mushroom sauce with fantastic Canarian potatoes - these really are lovely! Plus mixed interesting veg. Partner had lamb chops with the Canarian potatoes and mixed veg. There's not a lot of atmosphere, but the waiters are friendly enough.

We really enjoyed dining here on a number of evenings during our recent holiday whilst staying at Idyl Suites close by. Prompt friendly service and good quality food and drink. We always had a good experience here and would recommend visiting if you’re in the area.

We ate here on our 3rd night of our holiday. As a vegetarian the choice was very limited, I had Canarian Potatoes and canarian cheese, which were starters and my husband a meat eater had a beef dish. My husbands dish was good, and so were my dishes, I would have liked more choice The staff were very good and attentive

We were here three times in our holiday week and were always well looked after. Once we ate mixed tapas which was superb! The second time we ate fillet of beef and entrecote, perfectly cooked as we wanted it. The third time we had a starter, padrones and avocado with prawns. For the main course we had sole and beef fillet. The only thing that was not good, neither the first nor the second time, were fries that were not ready by a long way. Very large portions and fast service!

We ordered a tapas starter plate and a paella for 2 people. The ordered wine was chilled according to served in the ice bucket at the place, ok. The tapas record wasn't worth his money. Alioli that was handed was ready cheap goods from the tube. The alleged Serano was underground, the chicken parts totally dry. The bread apparently from two days ago. Was Nix. The paella was apparently a warmed-up ready meal. Shells a total disaster, flabby and cold. Fish in rice totally dry, overall taste a negative experience. The staff was very helpful and nice but this of course does not compensate for the negative dining experience. Better to go to Puerto Rico or Mogán to the port, definitely better.

Casual & smart casual restaurant. Staff speak many languages perfectly. Friendly & attentive service, owner a very friendly gentleman. Clean throughout & mobility friendly. Paella was an absolute delight & fairly priced (suggestion, if you go for paella you won’t need a starter). Will return next week & would recommend this eatery without fail.

Firstly, you sit between containers of dead plants, secondly, we ordered 'grilled meat'. One looked and tasted like it had been baked for 3 days and the other looked like something else that when you chewed had the texture of a rubber band. The sauce was wrong. I told an employee that I couldn't eat some pieces because it was dry and his response was: yes yes medium. And then I tried to explain it to him and he said: yes yes yes. I have to say, I have never laughed so hard in this situation. Friendly and funny staff. Medium service, but food could be better. Happy new year.

My wife, daughter and I visited 'Ole' many times during our stay in Playa Del Cura. Their menu is wide ranging and prices are reasonable. Service was attentive and friendly. We typically had their starters, tapas, pizza, lasagne or fish dishes to can't really comment on the meat dishes with the exception of the kebab which I also enjoyed. We thought the food was very well presented, well cooked and some of the fish dishes were far better than more expensive ones we had sampled at Amadores and Puerto Rico. The Grilled Sole and the Mixed Fish dishes were superb and as a result I had them several times. Thanks you for looking after us so well (if you are reading this you will know who we are if I say that my wife returned home after two weeks but my daughter and I stayed on for another 10 days). I've seen some of the other reviews but can't understand them given our experience over what must have been 7 or 8 visits during our month in Gran Canaria. Thanks again and all the best!

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. Food great Staff great Atmosphere great So welcoming and friendly. My husband went for a takeaway pizza made very welcome sat and had a glass of beer and viola pizza ready. We went 3 times to eat in the restaurant and it was always buzzy. Made couples, families and singles very welcome. A massive thank you for the limoncellos divine. We will be back

This resturant is outstanding the food is beautiful and the staff and owner are welcoming and friendly. It has a lovely atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy your meal the portions are large and very filling . This little gem is worth the visit you won't be disappointed.
