Date: July 11, 2015 (delayed input) Fondue and Italian mushroom pasta on Pension Gimmelwald’s outside terrace! The tastes and views and welcoming ambiance were hard to beat!! Two grandparents, two grandchildren (boy 12, girl 10), a sister and her Swiss husband together after many years and dining at the spot where the children’s mother celebrated her 20th birthday!! Swiss custom... More

Good food. Tucked away with a killer view. Unlike anywhere I've ever been. Stopped on our hike from Murren and took the cable car down to the valley floor.

My husband and I came here on our honeymoon, and returned this past summer with our children and my parents. We ate at the pension after a 4 mile hike, and sat on their back patio with sweeping views of the alps. The space is cozy, the views unbeatable, and the food is hearty. Nothing competes a long day of... More

We looked forward to two nights here as it's a Rick Steves favorite. However, the Pension and the town didn't deliver. The weather didn't help - we didn't get the fabulous views we saw from Murren right before. We arrived early in the last week of Sept. and the restaurant was closed, as were most services in town. They did... More

After a great day of hiking, we stopped here for a beer. The patio outside has stunning mountain vistas. The Honesty shop next door is owned by the folks that own the Pension. Pick out your item, put the money into an envelope-there is no one in the shop. The family that runs the Pension is very nice. We came... More

We ate at this property 3 nights in a row...each night we had homemade soup and homemade bread with a main course - really good meals at an affordable price (since food is very expensive in Switzerland. The drinks were very reasonable too.

Stopped for a light lunch. Very fresh ingredients, well presented. One of the biggest surprises of the trip. Much less expensive than most of the Murren restaurants, and better quality. Friendly staff, which was also unusual in the area!

We visited the small town of Gimmelwald based on Rick Steves reviews, and were pleasantly surprised by this wonderful little restaurant. The menu was limited, but the food very well-prepared using fresh ingredients. The day we visited the soup of the day was pumpkin, butternut squash and sweet potato - and it was fantastic! My husband had a burger and... More

Walked down from Murren. Lovely outdoor patio with great views and good food. Quite a nice place for a stop while coming through Gimmelwald.

Description
You already list this as a hotel. I didn't stay at the hotel so can't rate it but want to provide this information: I wandered into Gimmelwald down the path from Murren and met the owner, David, hiking up the path. He is an attractive Brit and very knowledgeable regarding hiking and other activities in the area. I had a coffee on his terrace and later a couple of pints of beer while chatting with him and others. The view from the terrace is fantastic across the deep Lauterbrunnen valley to the mountains on the other side. I didn't get to try his food as the chef hadn't arrived yet, and I didn't see his rooms in the pension part, but this place is worth a try at least to sit on the terrace for a coffee/beer and enjoy the view. Rick Steves also lists it in his book on Switzerland.
