At the entrance to the park

We slept one night in this structure because it was a stone's throw from the park entrance on the advice of our agency and because the other hotel was fully booked. The advantages end here. The rooms would also be passable for one night... but the kitchen needs to be reviewed. All in all, the breakfast is edible... also because you come back from the trip hungry... but the dinner was truly forgettable.

Perfect location for visiting Bromo volcano

Hostel is very close to the Bromo volcano so the location is perfect. We had a room with a private bathroom and a shared balcony. The rooms need renovation, especially the bathroom. The room feels a bit cold and unpleasant. We only got 2 towels which is a bit small. There is a restaurant at the hotel. The food was tasty and dirt cheap.

This is a hostel for backpackets with No high standards. The rooms are a bit sleezy and dark. Bedankt ok. Bathroom smell off urine. Rooms downstairs aredifficukt to reach fir elderly.

We stayed at the hotel and this was the only option to wat. Almost nothing was in stock. The food was everage. Wouldn't go here again.

Worst food I've ever had in years of travelling in Indonesia. All food came out cold, sent it back and then came out cold again. Inedible. Hoping this place does not make us ill.

Good one in the area

We had breakfast and lunch here. Complimentary breakfast buffet had very good spread, it was sumptuous and tasty. For lunch we had Banana pancake, fries and noodles. I would say fries need lot of improvement, they were more like fried potato, had no crunch but rest of the food was pretty good. Ambiance was good and staff was courteous as well.

Decent cheap food

Simple place serving quick, hearty meals, which you may need after a day hiking or jeep riding!! Situated at the top of the hill so in a prime spot for heading in any direction

The only cafe in Cemoro Lawang

If you would like to have a lunch or dinner, you will be most probably sent to Lava cafe. It seems that Cemoro Lawang does not have any other restaurant or cafe. If you want to have breakfast in cafe Lava, it is open ar 7-7:15. It is pretty good place but not more. They do what they can to satisfy the needs of tourists without having a competitor. Breakfast costs 50.000IRD (all you can eat). Alcohol is served even during Ramadan.

Great place to relax after hiking Bromo and the Sea of Sand.

A great place to stop and rest for a meal (or a beer) after a long day exploring Bromo National Park. It is slightly more expensive than some of the local warungs but likely still great value for your money.

After last travelled to Bromo in 2012, not much chances in the area development, but new toll way Pasuruan - Probolinggo just opened yesterday 11 April 2019 by President made the trip from Surabaya to exit West Probolinggo at desa Muneng/Wonomerto (exit km 829) only 1 hour time. After exit, to the right is Raya Bromo street all the way up South Bound to Mount Bromo within around 45 mins drive. About 300m after paying entrance ticket fee, the CAFE LAVA hostel is located. Our family room #02 is around 50m up hill on the right side. Lobby is on the left side of the street. Check in time was fast & convenient. Room is clean & spacious with sofa & 2 single beds in the living room while the king size bed is inside the room. Beds are comfy & bedcover is enough to make you warm. Amenities like toothbrush, shampoo, bar soap are provided. 4 towels ready. The bathroom is spacious & clean, but the hotwater is not working properly, maybe run out of LPG gas. It's a 15°C when we arrived at around 21.00 & of course, the water is freezing cold. However I managed to get a quick shower over it. The patio view looking downhill is amazing in the morning, 3 bamboo chairs are relaxing after 3 hours drive. Electrical plugs are everywhere & many street vendors are selling gloves, hats, masks, scarfs etc. Also many Hardtop Jeeps drivers offer the service for early 03.00am drive to the Penanjakan peak above the top mountain to see the sunrise on 05.00. It's worth of a trip here. It's 5-10°C in the early morning. Make sure to take a shower before, b'coz I don't think anyone could stand the early morning shower here. The rate is moderately acceptable at around USD 85.00/night for 4 adults family room. The hostel got 4* from me.

Dinner + Breakfast Pre/post Hiking

We had here our dinner before the sunrise hiking-night and the breakfast the next morning after hiking. Both of them were really good. Although this place is the only "restaurant" in the small town, this does not prevent it to have a nice menu and care in preparing the dishes. For dinner we had a mix of satays and fried rice/noodles. The breakfast works in a buffet fashion and comprises noodles, rice, eggs, toasts with butter and jam, fruits, juices and coffee/tea (similar to any other breakfast we had in Indonesia). If you look for a warm place with warm food before and after your visits, this is the place for you!

Best place to stay for visiting Mt.Bromo

Great tea and wifi

We didn't stay here but did stop by for tea and to use our computers. The staff was easily the most helpful people I came across in Bromo. Very kind and happy to help with any questions I had. Should I return, I would try this place out.

Basic with many options

This place is one the few places that is clean and basic in Cemoro Lawang. Most travellers who do not stay in the hostel also eat in this cafe. The prices are decent and there are many choices, that is catered to all sorts of traveller. Expect nothing amazing from the food, but at least the place is clean and the food is decent.
