We had lunch here after a morning of hiking in the nearby National Park. The place was empty when we arrived but we were warmly greeted by Rico and his wife. We then had a great meal of authentic Creole dishes and some of Rico's special homemade punch which was very lively indeed! The food was delicious and consisted of... More

We had a great meal at Le Palais du Barbizon. We had the set menu , giving a choice of fish or chicken or wild boar as a supplement. The fish was excellent , nicely cooked with fresh tomato and basil. The chicken was also good - two drumsticks nicely barbecued with a rich sauce. The accompaniments included rice and... More

we had luch there in family and I can only say that it was just great. Nice atmosphere and the hosts are just the epitomy of Mauritian hospitality. In spite of being so very busy the host had time to come around and crack a few jokes with us and it was greatly appreciated. The food was just yummy, true... More

We read about this gem in Lonely Planet and we were not disappointed! Rico L'Intelligent greets you and proceed to spoil you to no end! Enjoy the fixed Creole menu du jour - veggie curries, chicken and fish, and the luscious topical rum punch! Yum!

Just driving past, you would not think of stopping to eat here! The aromas as you enter are fantastic though and it's like walking into someone's home. The quality and quantity of food matches the MUR 600 per person and is definitely worth it. The food is home made and most comes from the small garden on the premises. The... More

Only go here if you want a Mauritius style family feasts. It feels like you have walked into a Mauritian home with lots of family members you have never met. They do treat you like family, which can be a bit off the cuff and like all family they can forget to bring you something, but they are happy to... More
