You can get the usual plat du jour everywhere in Tarn, but this is special; proper service, amuse bouch, three courses, superb cooking and presentation. Highly recommended. This our fourth visit and we have always been impressed.

We went out of our way to have lunch here. Only one other couple eating lunch but still very good, We had the 3 courses for 19 euros with an amuse buches which was excellent value plus a bottle of recommended local Rose (we later sought out the vineyard to make a purchase!)

Opposite the Marie in Cesteyrols, we enter a recently renovated stone building, numerous and attentive front of house, pleasant and simple surroundings. On a damp Thursday, a good amount of covers. Menu de jour, €16; Amuse Bouche, an entertaining combinations of a light creamy goats cheese, cod row, ginger and orange coolie and Asian patty. Starter; a medley of tomato,... More

We booked this restaurant for a Saturday when we were out visiting a few vineyards. Our three course meals varied in price between 20 something and 40 something euros. The food was enjoyable, but slightly predictable. Service was good, but the assistance in choosing a wine was somewhat limited by the almost total absence of choice. Would I go again.... More

We stopped here for a pre-arranged lunch during a vineyard trip. Very good, warm welcome. We sat at a table on the covered terrace. It's not cheap. Three course meals between about 25 euros up to 50 odd. I chose a 45 euro meal which was delicious and very imaginative. The veal was delish. The café gourmand was to die... More

Enjoyed a reasonably priced nice evening meal here. The roaring log fire on a late September evening added to the ambiance. The food was excellent and the overall experience first class. With aperitif and wine the bill was a sensible €90.

My wife and I had a really enjoyable experience eating on the terrace with local French families. On the plus side the service was very friendly and efficient from the young waiting staff, and the ambience was very pleasant. We thought the food was pretty good. We agree with a previous reviewer that the chicken broth with the mackerel starter... More

My family and I recently visited as a surprise evening meal for my birthday as we live within reasonable driving distance of Cestayrols. We all chose to order individual items rather than opting for the set price "menu" options as we thought the dishes offered through the menus were fairly limited. The quality of the food was excellent if a... More

Cestayrols is a typical small, one-horse town set in beautiful countryside. We stayed nearby 2 years ago and visited 'Lou Cantoun' or its predecessor then. Since then it has been revamped, under new management and the transformation has been stunning. First we had a simple lunchtime set menu for two on a Saturday and then a return the following day... We had the set lunch menu which was very nice and a much better deal than the expensive a la carte and other fixed menu options. We sat on the terrace which really needs some tlc. The interior of the restaurant looks so lovely and it is a shame it isn't replicated outside. The service was fine.

Near Cordes-sur-Ciel, Gaillac & Albi, 'Lou Cantoun' the restaurant of le chef Bernard Gisquet is located in the medieval village of Cestayrols. Here you eat season products from the neighborhood and the garden of Bernard. Fresh, tasty, delicate, his cooking preserves flavors of great french local produtcs. Bon appétit !
