It is rare that you got excellent in everything especially for a restaurant that got so many aspects to be reviewed on but to me, the experience of having lunch in this restaurant gives it all excellent remarks. First the location next to river was amazing. The outdoor tables even located over the river. The view was superb! Second is... More

In front of Douro River this place offers a superb dining experience but at its cost. For me it paid. Original creations by the chef Rui Paula joined by Douro superb wines transformed the visit in a pleasant surprise. Service also outstanding.

We came here for a 3-course lunch (with wine pairings). Immediately we were blown away by the view: this restaurant is gently nestled alongside the Douro river, surrounded by the rising mountains, vineyards, and farms. The food was elegant and beautifully plated. Our first course was a crab raviolo; our second course was a duck confit with a mushroom risotto;... More

What a super restaurant along the river. We basked in beautiful earthed. Had a Ruinhart rose champagne followers by local whites a rather formidable robustos. The Mozambique prawns and the suckling pig were simply heavenly. The mackerel was very flavourful and overall experience simply superb Highly recommended!

We had a leisurely lunch at DOC. The service was impeccable, yet relaxed and very friendly. Each employee was knowledgeable, attentive and a real asset to the restaurant. We had the signature menu and they allowed substitutions. Food and wine were delicious, restaurant very well designed and the view over the river gorgeous. Just a note to the management: please... We had a spectacular dinner at this lovely restaurant on the Douro River. We did not order the tasting menu but enjoyed our main course, dessert and wine tremendously.

The food and wine are exceptional. As is the interior space. With beautiful views of the river, you can even sit outdoors and enjoy the spectacular Douro even more.

I read about this restaurant in a travel blog, and it was one of the best meals I've had. The location is simply perfect; our table was located in a deck over the Douro River. Fantastic food, great wine list, excellent service. Make sure you order the tasting menu (there are 2 options) with wine pairing. Great place to go... More

Douro is river, villages and suspended vineyards on imposing slopes. It's wine with designation of origin but also D.O.C, Taste of Certified Origins.

It was based on this analogy that, in 2007, the DOC restaurant was born. Situated in Folgosa, Armamar, on the road between Regua and Pinhao, in what is one of the most beautiful scenic routes in the country, the restaurant occupies a building of contemporary lines with a picket based that extends along an elegant wooden deck overlooking the river.

Designed by the architect Michael Scott, the structure also includes a river dock with capacity for 15 boats, a wine cellar and a car park.
It's a place of enormous beauty, blending the grandeur of the vineyard covered mountains and the serenity of the Douro river and the riverside villages, only awakened by the regular passage of the train. DOC serves as a window on this breathtaking scenery, making every meal a unique and special moment.

Since it opened, the restaurant has been the target of a growing recognition of press and public. David Lopes Ramos, the 'Publico' renowned food critic, thus referring to DOC, in an article published in the 'Fugas' supplement: "DOC is a unique case, because, alone, made the Douro kitchen Douro sophisticated and creative in a level previously unknown. This in Douro, our most prestigious wine region. "
