The best Indian in koh samui.
The owner was a true gent and went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our meal and that we altered it to our requirements. Would highly recommend if you’re after a change from Thai food. The food was absolutely delicious. The only problem I’d say is the owner is undercharging for such delicious food! 11/10!

Went as a result of other TA reviews and missing my usual Friday night curry !!!
Glad we went to Akbars, cracking Dhansak curry with side dish of Bombay aloo and rice.
Be aware, the onion bhajis are 4 in total and take some eating for a starter.
The owner was a really nice man and very helpful. £26 for for everything including 3 beers and 2 gin and tonics. Cheapest meal ever !!!

A friendly Indian restaurant run by a lovely couple who are only happy to serve delicious and authentic dishes. We visited just before Covid, so we couldn’t to eat here again; thankfully it didn’t disappoint. We had a selection of veggie dishes including dhal, and aubergine; our daughter a chicken dish, all tasty, well cooked and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

We decided to eat here after wanting Indian food and seeing that Akbar has been recommended by some food critics on the island. All I can say is you must eat here and try it. You will not be disappointed. Amazing flavours, plenty of menu options and an amazing host / owner. Highly recommended!!

During our 6 days in Choeng Mon Beach we went twice to Akbar, because we really enjoyed the food.
Had Chicken with lentils, Butter Chicken, Dal, Raita, Nan, and left the place happy and full.
Great option if you are looking for a change after some days with the local cuisine, and dont want the standard an ordinary pizza and burgers options at some other places.

Very much recommended if you fancy Indian meal and you're in the area. My wife and I have visited a couple of times and had some paneer and vegetable curry and I must say it's top notch. The restaurant is owned by a very friendly couple who will make sure you'll enjoy your time there.

We had a fantastic meal here, ordered far too much food but each dish was exceptional!
Would 100% recommend the Aloo potatoes, Chicken Madras and Tandoor Chicken!
Food was very fresh, service was lovely and I would definitely recommend coming here if you're on holiday in Choengmon. It's location isn't obvious so is worth seeking it out at the end of the high street!

This small restaurant is 100% worth visiting if you’re in Koh Samui. The main reason being that the food is extremely delicious. I’m going back to Samui again next month with the one of reasons being that I want to go back to the this restaurant. The food is delicious, well-priced and the owner is extremely friendly! Sadly I don’t have any photos but it is well worth the visit! ❤️

I am a lover of Indian curries, I have been coming here for 15 years or more and it is a highlight of my trip to Cheong Mon beach every time. Great value for money, great service and great food, you will not be disappointed. Going again tomorrow, was there last night, it’s addictive.

By far one of the best Indian restaurants around Choeng Mon Beach, even maybe in Koh Samui. We tried several Indian places throughout our trip on Koh Samui and Bangkok but none of it was as good as Akbar. The flavors, the taste is incredible even if you order non- spicy dishes which usually leads to a more non tasty food but not with this place. If you love real authentic Indian food this is your place to go in Koh Samui! We went there three times during our 5 days stay at Choeng Mon Beach.

Don't be put off by the roadside location, the food here was delicious. We had poppadoms, plain naan, chicken tikka x2, chicken korma, and chicken balti alongside some rice.
The curries were full of flavour with tender meat. The chicken tikka on the sizzling skillet was perfectly spiced with a delightful charred undertone.
Owners are very amenable and attentive. The prices are in line with the area but the quality of the food makes it a bargain. We will be returning before we leave.

This place doesn’t look like much from the outside but it was so good! Lovely staff and the food was incredible. I’d highly recommend a visit, well worth it if you’re staying nearby. Super affordable too, we had tons of food (2 of us) and a couple of beers each and it came to about 1000 baht.

Enjoyed one of the set meals for two which included palak paneer, chicken tikka, peshwari naan and rice. Flavourful food and lovely owners. Great value for money too. Would definitely return, despite all the other choices in the area.

From the outside, the restaurant is rather uninviting with a canopy and plastic side walls. But you sit very comfortably on the chairs.
The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The cellar also touched the sauces for us and explained everything.
The food was excellent, came quickly and you could reorder quickly. We had BitterChicken, Vegetarian Curry, Ticka Marsala, Saffron Rice and Naan. All very well.
The price was right, too.
Definitely worth a recommendation. Thank you again.
