Terrace is nice, one man band was also good with good tunes. Waitress (õpilane) did not speak much english, but was willing to serve. Saslik was quite basic. Bad smoke from kitchen pipe was not nice at all

We made a reservation one month ago for the birthday of my dad, for that reason also booked the camping house for 5 of us. Reservation was made for 7pm. We arrived 15 minutes before and they told us that no reservation has been made...on our name. We never got any cancelation or something else from them. After complaining the manager provided us a table. Her attitude was super rude, she told us that we called them yesterday, like wtf. How we supposed to call them one day before if we arrived from portugal and Germany and you can't get camping house last minute. Also, to that 'manager' (or whoever the lady with pink blazer was) , you should know that 'customer is always right' . There was no apology or something like offering extra free bottle or coffee. Afterwards we noticed that there was some celebration of birthday party of a man, majority of the guests as we know are people working or used to work for the city government.(yea, some of us used to live in Estonia in the past so we know the people) So yeah, we have the feeling that we got "canceled" without any notice because some "big fishes". Won't recommend this place to anyone, especially if you arrive from another country and invite guests, coz you never know which major gonna celebrate his birthday next. The only good thing is to mention the waiter called Robert, young and polite guy. Ahh, and also, this restaurant supposed to be one of the best ones, coz it belongs to the hotel with lots of international guests, but only their wine card is in English. The meal card was in Estonian and Russian only. I asked the lady in pink blazer if we could get one in English, she said we don't have. Didn't even offer to translate the card to my partner who is Brazilian and has no clue of Russian or estonian language. So you better think twice before going to that place with international friends/guests or partners.More

We booked far in advance for the Cabaret but didn't have the best seat. Still the Cabaret was fantastic and the food was very good to. Not quite fine dining but still very very good. I was unsure whether to speak in Russian English or...Estonian but they spoke all three languages. A very special night and didn't leave till the early hours.More

Had a lunch break during the seminar. Food surprised: really fresh and pure food, very delicious. The venue itself was ok, but nothing special.

Stayed in local hotel desided to go for lunch at local restaurant. Actually the athmospher were nice, a bit different "the touch of Sovietic 90`".Ther wasnt so many visitors and minimum 4-5 waiters so did not give eny greeting when entrance in restaurant. So we...looked around and find suitable table for us. After some waiting we get the menu. Waitress (trainee) was very kind and nice, she maybe did nt exactly how and where, not very talky. Place has nice old style restaurant manners. They organise the table nicely, nice white servettes, forks-knifs as they have to bee, nice bred-butter. White wine was warm, but they bring some ice so it`s ok. Smoked duck salat with coat cheese looked and tasted nice. Lamb Carpaccio (i have never eated befor and dont now eny other restaurant serves it ) SUPER ! Fish soup so-so, no nice taste more like a water tastes. Pasta for kids was ok. So the food was nice, Service a bit not friendly from the staff, not caring. The place is different they have in weekend a cabare.More

Couldn't agree more with the previous reviewer - the food, interior and programme is exactly like in the 90's ship sailing in the baltic sea. The service (with handsome waitress) was really good, the food also. Really enjoyed our stay in this restaurant and we...were pleasantly suprised. Also the service was really fast!More

Amezing how in Estonia it´s possible to have different time travelings all around Estonia. In Tallinn you can travel back to the medivial times... And in Jõhvi back to the 90´s! Food, service, interior, service and program where just like in 90´s in slow boats...from Stckholm to Helsinki. I don´t mean it badly, but still I´m a bit amazed. Is it on purpose, or just by accident? Is it because of manor clients, russian speakers and russians, I don´t know. For me it was funny and in same time strange.More

First to sort out some confusion. There are two restaurants in the same building. One is called Mare Margarita, it's used mostly as buffet cafeteria for package-included meals of the guests of the SPA-hotel. It is NOT the place I'm reviewing. The restaurant I'm writing...about is called Mio Mare, and is located one level below that other place. I've been to this restaurant many times in the past few years. First, it's very good food. I dare say by far the best in this part of Estonia. I never get bored of their lamb carpaccio, pumpkin soup, duck breast with berry sauce and cheesecake. Portions are good so I doubt you'll be able to eat 4 courses in one meal, 3 would be challenging but possible. Second, excellent service - again almost too good to be true for this region. In the past there were some insufficiently trained waiters but they seem to have stepped up. Another thing, is that excellent experience consistently provided by one specific waiter, Anton. Ask for him specifically and you will not be disappointed, he's got something very valuable, that is the core of the success in his trade - the right attitude. I wish he'd do some huge master class to all Estonian waiters as he is THE best waiter I've ever experienced in Estonia (the close 2nd best in in southern Estonia ski village near Tartu). Prices: a bit on the high end for this area but it's all worh it. Besides, it's still a lot better pricing than all those cheesy tourist traps in Tallinn, the capital. The interior is decent but far from modern looking. The view is really nice. You can also take a table near an aquarium with some pretty fishes. Something to be aware of though: if you don't fancy dining in the middle of a loud Russian dance party mostly based on Russian pop music from 90-ies then make sure you are not there after 9pm on Friday and Saturday nights. If you are already staying in Toila SPA -- you MUST have at least one dinner in Mio Mare instead of your included buffet cafeteria. If you are not in Toila to start with, I'd say this restaurant is easily worth coming from up to 30-40km away to have a a late lunch or an early dinner.More

Food was excellent - we had wild boar with beetroots and duck with whortleberries, both cooked in perfection, beautifully served and reasonably priced (15 eur each). Service was friendly. However, the atmosphere was not very cosy, the interior design of the place was from early...ninties. At 21.00 the band started playing, fortunately we had finished our dinner by then (thanks to the fast and efficient service).More

Estonian people dance very well, classical dances. It is a pleasure just to look at dancing couples. The floor show is pretty good.

Our experience in the restaurant was overall very poor. To start off the waiter was behaving as of he was doing us a favor -- looking frustrated, cutting us off in the middle of a sentence, rushing us to order. Furthermore, he didn't have a...clue of what so the dishes consist of. The food experience was ok though spoiled by dessert -- sour oranges, unripe kiwis, grapes with stones and driest pears -- what a way to finish the dinner!? Finally, the live music was blasting so loud that it was impossible to speak, which made us very much look forward to the rare moments the musicians went on a break. The restaurant is located in a spa hotel which probably creates natural demand. They're also the only restaurant in Toila, making it a bit of monopoly. However, if you're coming by car it's worthwhile avoiding this place and making a trip to Johvi which commands a reasonable variety of restaurants of overall better quality at a lower price range.More
