Atmosphere: the restaurant is decorated really traditional with lots of love. The waiters are very welcoming and the service very good. Starters: the bread is local, the farinheira with eggs was tasty, the beans with chorizo tasted good, but it can be a little bit...more chorizo for my taste. The octopus salad was also good Mains: the espetada de porco was marinated well and the lombo was made very good. The migas we liked, the rice was a little bit overcooked and the couve was for my taste to oily and had a little bit too much garlic. Dessert: we had the fruits. They tasted good and you can select by yourselves which one you want and how much. Thank you for the nice experience...More

We had a very nice dinner here, one of the best of our trip. The menu is in Portuguese only, but the very friendly patron patiently translated everything for us.

The food is good and as traditional as it gets. You get nice sized portions, 1 portion may be enough for 2 people depending on how much you eat. Plenty of entrees on the table right from the start. Very nice deserts including a selection...of fruits in jars with different types of syrups. The strawberries and pears, for example, come in a red wine sort of syrup...or maybe it's just straight red wine. Either way it's good and tasty.More

Traditional Portuguese restaurant. It deserves the visit. One should try the house specialties. Desserts very good. Really convenient prices. A GPS necessary to reach the place.

Seen from outside this restaurant is not really inviting. We actually hesitated before entering. However, inside (at least in the room where we were seated, there is also another one) the atmosphere is quite charming with an abundant decoration of local items and pictures. The...reception is friendly and the service throughout the meal was professional. Very early I encountered a major problem. The wine list (book) is about the longest one I have ever seen in Portugal. After long reading and a waiter who came along a couple of times I decided for a Pedro, Casa Cadaval. First impression was OK but strangely the wine weakened during the meal. Next time (because there will be a next time!) I’ll have to continue my study of the wine list… Not the traditional olives as starter but a wide selection of mini plates. We limited ourselves to the pigs’ ears and squid. Other starters looked also tempting but we still had a meal to go… My main dish was an in wine marinated goat: excellent! Only miner points were the vegetables which were cold and as often is the case in Portuguese restaurants the meat contained many bone splinters. My wife took boar on a hot stone. Tasted also excellent. To end on a healthy note we choose as dessert the fruit selection instead of the sweets selection. Very original presentation of 9 different fruits in 9 glass bowls. You can mix and serve yourself. Trying several fruits I fell for the “pêra bêbedo” or drunken pear. As always I ordered a coffee to end and surprise, surprise it came with a large selection of sweets… which was very much appreciated (there went the effect of a healthy dessert…). Overall a very enjoyable meal in a nice restaurant. Recommendable!More

How can I describe this restaurant?!? Well… lost in the road you only get there if you know where it is. Away from everything, this is a “must go” restaurant. We arrived and had a table ready for us (a friend called to book it!)....They put a sweet wine, called Moscatel on the table. Sweet!!! They start to bring entrances/ starters, starters and more starters. Lots of it! And it’s…. it’s… it’s all good. Very good!!! The main dishes aren’t as good as starters… … and the deserts?!? OMG, the deserts… They bring different kind of fruits. And you can try everyone of it. Then the other deserts… You have to try the “Tigelada”… it’s superb! Then… liquors, nuts and… and lots more! IMO, this is a place to go with a group (at least 4!) and to order only starters (try everyone of it!) and deserts. Forget the main dishes. Starters and deserts! The experience is everything… and doesn’t end in the food… the waiters are extraordinary friendly!! A place to go. Definitely!More
