Been here with a group of 17 people. The food was very fresh and a fantastic taste. The restaurant has a very nice view on the mountains and has a little pond with water elements (like a waterfall and fountain). I would recommand anyone to...go here to have lunch or dinner!More

This place stood our first stop on our way to Fang from Chiang Mai. welcoming staff and extremely refreshing ambiance. Seating arrangements in among the trees and plants with out harming them. Live fountains and water falls add to the scene. We enjoyed their good...service and would definitely come backMore

Good selection of authentic Thai food, especially some northern Thai dishes. Good atmosphere with tables laid out around the water. We went for dinner and there was also live Thai music, not too obtrusive. Prices seem to range from 60 upto about 280 baht per...dish the most expensive being the whole fish. I'd definitely recommend it and will go again.More

We had seen reviews on TripAdvisor that assured us the restaurant was more than adequate. So we did! The food is excellent. It is real Thai food! AND not watered down to fit the Western palate. We had Tom Yum Goong and deep fire fish...with herbs. Both excellent. You may want them to add some milk to the Tom Yum since it is so spicy. The restaurant is easy to find. As you drive north on 107 about 200 meters before the turnoff for the Chiang Dao Caves, it is on the right.More

I must say this place looked very nice, I pass by it often as its along the super highway and haven't been there in a while so decided to try them again as they've expanded quite a bit. It must have been bad luck, perhaps...they were having an off day or too many tour groups stopped by because they made us wait over an HOUR without so much as an appetizer arriving. We asked them several times in that hour about the order to be told, that you could bring the dishes as they come... Nope, nothing after one hour having made two inquiries with the front desk and several more with the local waitress. The first time I went to the counter they checked the order for the table and apparently nothing, nothing went through, they didn't write it down or lost it and never bothered to ask us about it!!!! I almost took it personally because I HATE being told something is coming when nothing really is coming, after over an hour I ended up canceling everything and leaving on an empty stomach with the rest of my family... That was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had dining in all of Thailand especially since I had such high expectations for this place.... They spent money on the landscaping but maybe not enough for good staff, or cooks...More

Great place for dinner. Arrive just before sunset and see the views of the mountain and see the place light up with fountains all around. Food was good and not too expensive. Recommended.

This restaurant is located on Route 107, about 500 meters South of the crossing with the street that leads to the Chiang Dao Cave (the Tripadvisor map shows the restaurant North of the intersection; this is wrong!). The restaurant is on the Eastern side (i.e....to your right when you come from Chiang Mai). Sanae Doi Luang has a very nice garden setting. They only serve Thai food. We had four dishes. The lemon grass/shrimp salad was excellent, the Naem and mixed mushrooms were good and the Nam prig oong (a Northern Thai specialty) was a bit disappointing. For the four dishes and two bottles of beer we paid 800 Baht which is very reasonable given the very nice setting. Please note that the restaurant closes at 9 pm.More

While touring the Chiang Mai Hill Tribes and Chiang Dao Caves with AP Good at Travel we stopped for lunch at this local restaurant. We dined in a gazebo in an outdoor garden like setting that offered beautiful views of scenic fields, mountains, and trees....That was just the beginning of this very special lunch!!! The selection of local Lanna cuisine was not the typical Thai food we have had in other Thai restaurants. It was delicious and served in perfect style for this setting. The service was very good and we truly were made to feel so very special !!!!More
