Been on many occasions over the last few years, always a warm welcome from Mark and well informed wine suggestions to compliment our dishes. Food cooked simply to perfection, sourced locally. A real treat.

We visited Sophie's as a late birthday celebration dinner. The restaurant is housed in a very splendid listed building in the middle of picturesque Minchinhampton and is an excellent venue for this splendid rustic French restaurant. The owner is clearly passionate about the food and wines that they provide, and provided a interesting and informed background to the dishes that... More

Excellent service, superb food, beautiful wines. This restaurant is a labour of love. What makes it exceptional is that you feel that owners really appreciate you being there.

Desperately disappointing lunch at this cult and well regarded locally establishment. May be it was just an off day but it was all so tired and half hearted. The steak was leathery, the red wine cold, the service bored and disinterested. My wife wouldn't have even given it 2 stars. Uninspiring and even dispiriting. A sorry experience.

Scrubbed tables and random chairs give a country feel and the food is served quickly and hot by friendly staff who know the food. Great bread with fish soup and a lovely mushroom tart - followed by excellent desserts - my ice cream was bigger than expected. Chardonnay was a bit pricey for a "seemed smaller than described" glass but... More

We had an enjoyable lunch here. Very simple dining room but very French in ambience and with rustic cooking, inspired by the English owner's second home in France, and by their policy of buying wine from vignerons they know and trust near that home. If you want the familiar yet again, Sophie's is not for you, but if you'd like... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the food and wine, which helped in choosing from the menu. The cheeseboard was probably the best I have ever tasted!

Sophie's Restaurant is one of the nicest places I know. The food is excellent; fresh seasonal and always delicious. Sophie and her family always make you very welcome with warm and friendly service. It's in a beautiful old building in this very pretty village.
