This restaurant has nothing to do with the Maremma kitchen. Its overpriced dishes are tastless, the crostini so hard that you can break your teeth on it. Don't go here, unless you want to eat bad. The owner boasted about his wine but the white as well as the red tasted not fine. At the end we had an unpleasant... More

My husband and I found Locanda la Pietra by chance while visiting the village. We enjoyed a lovely lunch served in attractive surroundings in the late September sun. How pleased we were to enjoy slow food, much of it grown in their gardens or locally sourced. We felt that this was one of the highlights of a short trip to... More

What a treasure La pietra is! Family run (with a history that goes back centuries) by the lovely Carlo, Pietro and Mima, this is a must-stop for anyone in the area! After living in London for 18 years and travelling Italy and the world for over 30 years, I can honestly say I have never had a better meal or... More

We happened upon this little gem on a breezy Tuscan evening. My wife and I availed of the set menu while the children both tried the local wild boar followed by pannacotta with fresh local pears. The deep fried sage leaves were a unique entree - both main courses of cod Livorno and pork in a gorgonzola sauce were very... More

We had lunch on at La Pietra on August 30, 2013. Upon arrival we were presented compliments of the kitchen consisting of vegetables and herbs in a light tempura batter. The locally produced Pecorino cheese accompanied by a red tomato puree was the best we have tasted. The Montalcino Ham and melon was above average as was the spinach and... More

I thought it was appropriate that I finally review La Pietra, given that I have eaten there many times. Nestled in the wonderfully small and enchanting town of Roccalbegna this Hotel / restaurant offers fine dining in their marvellously appointed restaurant whilst in the summer you can eat al fresco in the wonderful courtyard shaded by a 300 year old... We were driving through Roccalbegna while looking for a place for lunch. The local pharmacist directed us to this restaurant, otherwise it would have been easy to miss it, on a bend on the road, on the outskirts of the village. The restaurant serves 'slow food' - in the Italian sense that it serves locally and home-grown produce, and the... More

The family-run Albergo Ristorante “La Pietra” from 1821 century, offers free Wi-Fi and a restaurant serving Tuscan typical cuisine prepared with “zero chilometer” local products, fruits and vegetables from our garden, homemade ice cream, sorbet, dessert and fresh hand made pasta. Surrounded by the Tuscan countryside, it is in the small medieval town of Roccalbegna. The property produces its own extra virgin olive oil, white and red wine, according to the principle of biodynamics. Guests can buy these products on site. Rooms are in rustic style and feature late 19th-century furniture. Facilities include private bathrooms and TV-SAT. Each room has panoramic views over the medieval village's centre and the surrounding valley. A varied breakfast including homemade pies and jams, as well as classic hot drinks, is served every morning. When the weather is good, you can enjoy in outdoors, on the patio, in the shade of pergola more than one hundred years old. For tourists, it’s available the café service a simply break while visiting the hamlet. The Hotel is around a 40-minute drive from Grosseto, 20 minutes from Terme di Saturnia and around 1 hour by car from the Val d’Orcia.
