We booked tea tasting followed by dinner and it was a lovely experience from beginning to end. We arrived around 4pm in the afternoon after a mazy climb up the mountain. We were given a short tour of the beautiful zen like building and then had an hour session with the tea master tasting two Taiwan teas with his explaining... More

As soon as we arrived the premise, we thought the 45 min car ride was worth it. Although a bit dark at 6pm already, the environment/ambience breathed tranquility and taste. There were about 6-7 courses of small portioned food served very slowly (2.5 hours), and each was deliciously and thoughtfully prepared - Tomato juice jelly, taro dessert, mushroom rice, corn... Very excited to have finally managed to reserve a table for dinner at Shi-Yang Tea House 食养山坊 on December 27th. This reservation was made more than a month ago as it's impossible to get a table for the same week. It's unfortunate that the weather turned wet and cold before we arrive, we were not able to walk around to... More

Spoiler alert: This is the best meal we had in Taiwan and i highly recommend this place for an experience. Shi Yang is a place of peace and serenity but first, you need to get yourself a reservation to eat here. My wife found this place through trip advisor and we decided to give it a try. Reservation was made... More

食養山房is not the easiest to get to but it is definitely worth the trouble. You cannot help but calm down because you are part of a Zen still-life. The exquisite dishes remind me of Kyoto kaiseki. Check out their website for reservation and transportation information.

I will recommend friends to visit before sun-set as once after 6pm, it's too dark and what a shame if you can enjoy the environment and have a cup of tea viewing the nice garden. Individual room (though no air con) still very comfortable. I love the soup and the presentation of the dish. You really have to bring a... More

I visited here with my friend last month. It was a comfortable and silence place where you can relax and enjoy some nutritional comfort food with the nature and slow down your pace. All the food were carefully designed with healthy ingredients, but only one thing to say was too many courses were served (at least 8 courses excluding the... More

This place is in the mountains, about a 30 min cab ride from Taipei exhibition centre. The atmosphere is stunning - we were seated in a house-like rooms with 3 other tables and the walls are made of glass so you can see that you are surrounded by trees and other scenery. It did get a bit dark soon after... More

My group of Good friends (ex hoteliers) hired a driver to bring us to this often talked about restaurant. The simplistic beauty of the surroundings makes one realise that the food is just a part of the whole experience. The meal is reminiscent of a Kazeki zen (Japanese style) 8-11 course meal. The effort and attention to details in putting... More

Came here a few weeks ago with my family. This was the third time for me and second for my kids with the last time almost 5 years ago. We were delighted that the high quality of the food and the "zen-ness" of the place has not changed a bit. On the food, one can easily tasted the freshness of... More
