Called into the sun inn looking for a late lunch and the place was more than welcome to accommodate. The barman was very friendly and serve with a smile throughout his time serving us and made polite conversation. The food was served fast and the quality was excellent the best food in the area by a mile. The manager Cameron... More

Stumbled upon this inn when looking for a late lunch. The venue itself needs updating but all the staff were polite friendly & eager to please. Top marks. The meals were huge! Big hearty portions. Fish & chips nice & crisp served with lovely mushy peas. We asked for lots of changes to our food order - always met with... More

Popped in here for evening meal. The steak and ale pie was beautiful, never seen so much meat in a pie, I struggled to eat it all! Fantastic.

Although I am a local in the area and to this pub in particular, I felt I had to enter a review given the quality of the meals on our last visit. I had a poached salmon and prawns dish for my main course, which was absolutely delicious. This had been preceded by king prawns in garlic butter, which was... More

I telephoned the day before to see if we would be able to have a Sunday lunch at 5 I was told this would be fine but if I could let them know they would make sure that they... More

Nice place to stop and staff were friendly and efficient. The food looked great, but only had the smoked haddock chowder. Unfortunately it was more like a purée than a soup.

Reserved a table for Sunday lunch... decided to treat ourselves to a 3 course dinner. The portions are huge! Struggled to finish my main course but with a sticky toffee pudding on the menu, I couldn't turn it down! Finally, a place where you can eat high end food without emptying your wallet!

I had booked this pub in advance as it was Easter bank holiday and we where camping so knew it was going to be busy. Table was ready early and was in the resteraunt in the back room which was old in decor but quiet away from the bar and relaxed. Very happy that I was able to order fish... More

Had meals twice here over our Easter trip. Very tasty food,, average pub prices, nicely served and well presented. Didn't wait to long for courses, nice atmosphere and clean toilets. Puddings also deserve a mention, worth sharing one if you are to full to eat a whole one. Chocolate fondant and death by chocolate ice cream especially. Delicious.

The Inn was converted from a row of cottages in the 1700s by the original proprietor Edward Richardson. Since then the Inn has changed hands several times, and was taken over in May 2010 by John & Jane McGuire.

The Sun is a family run establishment. Sunny by name and by nature, this is one of the most friendly and cheery hostelries in the region. It is a sizeable whitewashed building with grey framed windows, which in summer are draped with vibrantly coloured hanging baskets. Inside, the decor is simple and warm with low beamed ceilings, wooden tables and chairs and wood paneled walls and bar.

It has a spacious beer garden and a grassy area at the rear with a fantastic wooden childrens play fort. It also has its own car park, which is strictly for patrons.

The Sun Inn is renowned for its Real Ales and has been awarded the Cask Marque and features in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. We offer a wide range of local ales and a constantly changing guest ale and for the non ale drinker there are lagers and stouts.
