There's a reason this area is deserted, restaurants are empty, and shops shuttered. It isn't COVID or even service in the entertainment industry there which is fine. I have been considering purchasing in the Cap Cana area and own two properties in Punta Cana. I...brought friends to see the sites and the backward processes, terrible terrible customer service experience set me against it. The ignorance of the security guards was the first barrier. Actually speaking with the guard station "Concierge" was unforgettable. She was rude, condescending, and had absolutely no idea of how customer service should be conducted. I needed to make a restaurant reservation she informed me. She needed to "register" every individual entering the grounds and copy their ID. When I called to actually make the reservation at la Palapa (she would not call) it's a main line - hotel reservation or restaurant? Restaurant. "I'll transfer you to restaurant reservations." That receptionist transfers me to the actual restaurant of la Palapa. You need a Dominican phone number and WhatsApp to receive the pass. It never came. I call back. Three transfers and the restaurant now isn't picking up. 30 minutes later, I'm fuming. I explain to the Concierge here that I had actually been considering purchasing here but not after this horrible experience and that I would never put my guests through this experience and I will be buying my house in Punta Cana instead. "Do whatever you want." She Gloated. Yes, Gloated. It was a disgusting experience and sets the tone for the empty streets, abandoned shops, and empty restaurants.More
