On the recommendation of others at our hotel in a resort area in PR, we drove 40 minutes to Jose Enrique for a late dinner around 8:30 pm. The restaurant has no reservation system in place and instead calls your cell phone when your table...More

Amazing experience. Wonderful food. No reservations, but when you arrive, your name goes on a list and they call your cell phone when your table is ready. We waited only 30 minutes. Around the corner there was a little stand with killer mojitos! Wonderful!!! GO!!

This restaurant was recommended to me by everyone from tourists to waitresses in high end Puerto Rican restaurants. The menus are handwritten and on white boards. I am unsure if there even is a sign with the name of the restaurant outside. And then there...More

When researching our trip to San Juan we kept hearing about this chef. I believe he's the only James Beard nominated chef in all PR. Well, it was incredible. It's a small house in a neighborhood in which all the interior walls have been removed...More

A must when in San Juan, this place rocks! Firstly it is in the fun locals hangout of La Placita/Santurce which is where the locals come and party on the weekend. The food is incredible, not surprised he is nominated for the James Beard award....More

Absolutely the must-go restaurant in town and one of the most outstanding eateries in the Americas (North and South), in a comfortable atmosphere and with the best service.

We had a most special late lunch at this restaurant. It was very casual and welcoming. Nothing pretentious but wonderful food. Jose Enrique is not trying to be a European restaurant in Puerto Rico. Rather this is a Puerto Rican restaurant of the highest caliber....More

Congratulations on the James Beard nomination! I'm trying to get a sense of the price range. $$ - $$$ could mean a variety of things. Hope to see you next week.

Thank you for posting he's open again. We went there for the first time last March, 2015. We sat at the bar and had a wonderful time, great food, met some locals, met Jose himself, awesome service. We will be returning to San Juan again this year April 27th, we had read he was closed and we both were heart broken. When I read the NEW posts he was back in business it made us so happy. Last March we went at 5:30 p.m. and the restaurant was full. My husband always calls me a bar fly, thank goodness cause we got the last 2 seats at the bar. We had the best time, we still talk about how great the food and service was. I wish he took reservations, I can see why he doesn't. Thank you for posting, so relieved to read the great reviews! Come on April, hurry and get here!
