The Cafe Puerto Rico is located in Old San Juan and is a small but quaint place. We were seated upstairs as a party of 6 and they had no problem accommodating us. We were told by locals to try it out and overall the food was very good. Our party had a variety of dishes and everyone enjoyed the... More

Awesome food! We had the churrasco steak with sweet plantain mofongo and Ceviche as an appetizer. It was delicious and so flavorful!! Server was not overly friendly and would not split our table of 4 into two separate checks to make it easier to pay which was annoying but not a deal breaker. We enjoyed it so much last year... Stopped for dinner and Michael, waiter, was very friendly and helpful. Made some decisions based on his recommendations and we were glad we did. The food was very good and serving size was large. Definitely in a tourist trap area but we are glad we ate here.

We stayed in PR for a few days and ate here more than once. The only thing that was not the best was their "pollo a la milanesa"... The quality of the chicken one time was veeeery chewy. But everything else was amazing. Rice was the best rice I have ever had. Beans were awesome!

Best food in old San Juan. We enjoyed the appetizer sampler which had 5 different things. We only got the half size which was plenty. Good size portions with everything and the staff was excellent. Heading back there tonight again for our last dinner in PR!

We came across this restaurant after visiting El Morro! They were able to accommodate a group of 9, the food was great! I loved that they had so many options for such a traditional dish. It was the best sweet plantain shrimp mofongo I had ever had! Would definitely come back!!

The lady at the tourist office said that this was not a tourist place, and she was right. Real Puerto Rican food. I had mofongo pollo and my wife had a shrimp and rice dish. They were both excellent. Nice seating outside, too.
