We were told that the Cafe Puerto Rico was a must stop while in Old San Juan. I am very picky, but the wife insisted thhat we try it. I am pleased to report that what everyone said about this place I also found to be true. The service was excellent. The location was right across from a park and... More

Cafe Puerto Rico was recommended to us by an employee at our hotel. I had asked where to find the best local cuisine in Old San Juan, and he didn't even hesitate. This place did not disappoint. Very nice location with some limited outdoor seating by a nice open plaza. The inside is fairly small also. Very intimate atmosphere, while... More

My wife and I are on the island for a wedding. I arrived yesterday and rather than head straight to hotel, she took me to Old San Juan to wander around, grab a bite and see Castle Cristobel. I had yellow rice with codfish, Nina had Arroz con pollo. Both were very good and beer was cold. Authentic.

We tried this plan as a recommendation of our tour guide. We had to wait in line and were seated in about 15 minutes. We tried the mofongo which was excellent! Everything was fresh and full of flavor.

I will start by saying the staff there were so friendly and accommodating! There were 12 of us and it is a small place! They took one of our cell numbers and called to say our table was ready which allowed us to walk around and hit the local shops while waiting! The got us together at 2 tables and... More

Loved the mofongo, they serve it my favorite way, made from Yucca. Sometimes there is a wait but the quality of the food is worth it.

I recently tried Cafe Puerto Rico for the first time and loved it. I'm Puerto Rican so I don't usually go to Puerto Rican food restaurants while visiting home because that's what family is for. However, this time I was participating at a scientific conference and decided to experience this restaurant with a few friends from the U.S. We all... More

Food recommended by our tour guide. We really enjoyed the food however the staff could have been more friendly. We were told we had to move from the front of the restaurant because the owner did not want to see us in the window. What? They didn't have a waiting area and the front of the restaurant was the only... More

This place was incredible in almost everyway! The food was amazing and the drinks were very good as well. I enjoyed the outdoor seating and the man playing guitar it was very pleasant. The only downside was they forgot to bring out our appetizers. Other than that it was a very pleasant place to visit. I recommend the grouper it... More
