Simple place and great human warmth. Their cuisine is excellent and the desserts very tasty. House of authentic Gypsy Arm. Must be a must stop if you come by the west of Puerto Rico.

You may even see some street sellers on the capital selling ''brazo gitano'' from this people. They are the best at what they do, and have a lot of time doing it.

Open for over 100 years, this is one of my "must" stops when in Puerto Rico. Yes, it's three hours from the metropolitan area, but you can make it part of a visit to the West coast and try their iconic brazo gitano. They make it in a variety of flavors, with or without cheese (With cheese must be refrigerated).... More

It's very popular in the island, so it's a stop you can't miss if you are in Mayaguez or near by. They have the brazo gitano, the guayaba is the most famous, but they also have it with different fillings. I found the little shop cute & unique. They also have some other puertorrican candies, honey, coffee, sangrias for sale.... More

Franco's is well known for its jelly roll but what I love about them is that you can get premium quality coffee grounds or beans that you can't get elsewhere and a a very good price. Don't buy coffee at the supermarket and make the trip to Franco's. I make coffee in my office and my colleagues and students notice... More

We are native residents of Mayaguez. My Grandmother knew the owners when they moved to Puerto Rico from Madrid, Spain. I grew up with all their delicate pastries. People from all over the island come down to the West Coast to purchase the famous brazo Gitano. You can get the brazo Gitano in more than 15 flavors. If you order... More
