We had a great time here - the food and views are great, very relaxing with good proximity to the beach. It is definitely a pricey restaurant, with almost $20 USD cocktails and $15 shots, but clearly it’s a place where you pay a premium for vibes and service. Our server Neto was really friendly and helpful, and always had a big smile on his face. The other support staff were very helpful too with getting orders in, instead of making us wait a long time for our waiter to tend to us.

Upscale restaurant in the romantic zone along the beach. This was our most expensive dinner in PV but worth the trip! Ramon Is Hot was my boyfriend's favorite cocktail from our entire trip. We both ordered the medium shrimp, one garlic and one tequila. The serving of shrimp is hearty and was delicious both ways. We also ordered some garlic bread on the side that was tasty. The staff was attentive but definitely tried to upsell to the "blue shrimp" which was much more costly. Overall would recommend, especially for sunset.

We made reservations for Saturday at 7pm. Manny set us up with a great location to enjoy a beautiful sunset dinner on our anniversary. The atmosphere is very relax and low lit which creates a great intimate experience. The food was very delicious. Manny recommended the Blue shrimp with Seabass entre and the Filet Mignon with a Lobster tail. Full of flavor and absolute filling portions, price seems fair, similar to restaurants near with similar high reviews. Worth it in our opinion.

Great views but prices were really expensive and service was not great. The dinner was expensive for what we had the staff keep encouraging to have extras with with every course. Only one of us had a starter it came out with the main meal and we hat to ask for the wine twice after ordering it about 20 minutes before which was also served with the main. After dinner because we were not interested in a sweet the staff made it obvious to try and get rid of us by bringing the bill over and clearing the table.When paying they insisted in paying a tip starting at 20%.

Arrived at 6:15 pm on a Sunday evening with no reservations and a sunset time of 7pm got right in. If you get a reservation ask for the tables inside the restaurant but on the rail under the palapa for a beautiful sunset view. My choice was the Sea Bass with Blue Shrimp the other was the Portuguese Shrimp. Dessert we had the Carmel Flan (below averge,) and Coconut Ice Cream w/toasted coconut flakes (It was very tasty.) When I inquired what exactly was a "blue shrimp" i was told that it would be a little more salty. The "grilled" Sea Bass was overcooked with sear marks on the outside and so dry that it was not edible IMO. The 2 blue shrimp were excellente ergo I went for dessert which I normally do not do.
The Portuguese Shrimp came out flaming in the middle surrounded by 4 shrimp upright wrapped in bacon. It was a very cool presentation! Unfortunately, only 1 of the 4 shrimp was edible due to being severly undercooked! When the assistant waiter, not the head waiter that explained the menu and took our order, came around and asked how the food was we gave him our opinion. After than the head waiter seemed to disappear, we finished our food got our dessert and then waited unusually long to get our ticket. The head waiter I guess had been told by his assistant as he did not ask how our dining experience had been. Please see my review of Serranos regarding their Sea Bass. Very underwhelming experience for our first taste of PV!

I want to start by saying that we are long term avid diners and the Blue Shrimp for years! We had not tried breakfast until today, and what a mistake that was. We were in the restaurant from 9:30 am until after 11:00 am to be served a very disappointing meal. More than that though was the total lack of communication we received from our server about the cause of the verrrrrry slow service. At 10:30 am, we were told there was a slight problem in the kitchen and it would only be another 3 or 4 minutes. We were served at 11:00 am! We feel the restaurant should have been honest about the problem so we could have made a choice whether to wait or go elsewhere. The icing on the cake was when our server got rude with us instead of being gracious that we stayed.

Extremely expensive. Cocktails run $320 pesos which is very high. The food menu is also pricey with some dishes better than others. Staff however are attentive and trying to do their jobs, however the over price factor makes it a 1 in my mind.

I really wanted to love this place, especially since I chose it to celebrate my 60th birthday, but one mishap after another made it less than enjoyable. We had a wonderful table inside but right on the edge of the restaurant what a wonderful view of the beach and ocean. Unfortunately, the restaurant was still serving patrons below us buckets of beer while chain smoking on the beach lounge chairs nearby despite it being dark and after 8:00 p.m. The smell of smoke filled the air as we tried to enjoy our meals. Our waiter, Manny, was very nice and polite, but I think he had an off night. We ordered martinis with twists and were served martinis with olives. I ordered the crab tacos as my appetizer, but they brought calamari by mistake. They took our plates and flatware after the appetizers, but there were no more forks or knives in the container that holds the flatware on the table, so I ate my entree with a spoon since there were no waiters or assistants around to check in and see how we were doing. We used a bread plate for the shells from my blue shrimp (one of which had not been clean properly and was filled with poop). My husband shared a taco with me which was also on that bread plate. They took it away and finally brought us a bigger plate for our shells. Manny tried to made it right by bringing us another taco and an after dinner drink, but I was expecting so much more from this place. It was very disappointing overall. There are so many better restaurants in PV at this price point.

For a million-dollar view and some of the best fried shrimp in Puerto Vallarta, come to this restaurant. We also order the margaritas that are poured table side, and the fresh guacamole that is also prepared table side to your order and specifications.
And if you want really great service, ask for Miguel. He and his team know how to make a vacation special.

My husband and I came here for lunch on in May 2023 and came back with my parents for dinner tonight (January 2024). Our server was Polo and his service was excellent - every need was met. Highlights were the Shrimp Lover’s dish (you can choose three kinds - we got the garlic shrimp, coconut shrimp, and Portuguese bacon wrapped shrimp, and all were delicious. We also got fresh table-side prepared guacamole for our appetizer, which was delicious and fun to watch. It came with chips in plastic bags, but we wished they had fresh chips. We also got the catch of the day which was mahi mahi with passion fruit sauce. The fish was very tender and fresh. The sea bass was maybe a little over cooked and the side vegetables that came with the fish dishes were definitely undercooked. Overall, we had a great experience and would go back again.

One of my friends requested an appetizer instead of the full dinner. Most restaurants in Puerto Vallarta are happy to accommodate requests and our waitress agreed on the appetizer. When we got the bill, we were charged for the full dinner plate . The Blue Shrimp prices are much higher than other restaurants on the Malecon, to begin with but to charge the dinner pale price was shocking. The waitress refused to adjust the price so we talked to the manager who refused as well. We explained that we all lived in PV full time and would ask our friends to boycott the restaurant. Quite simply, they didn’t care.

My one star review was very generous. We ordered calamari and coconut shrimp. The calamari was like eating a rubber band, it was not edible. The coconut shrimp had freeze burn and was not fresh. When the waiter asked if everything was alright, we told him NO. He called the manager over and the manager wanted us to talk to the chef. We waited for about 15 minutes to speak to the chef and finally just ask for the bill. When our nice waiter brought the bill it was $55.00 US dollars. By the way we ordered water, tap not bottled water. We ask if this was correct, he left and went back to the manager. When he came back he said the manager was giving up a 10% discount. WOW. By the way the chef never showed up at our table. We have been to the Blue Shrimp many times and was very surprised that the quality has gone down hill to this degree.

Have been to Blue Shrimp many times in the past 5 years or so. The prices keep escalating and the food quality depreciating. The service, drinks, and the guacamole were fantastic, but again, seriously well over priced, and they should be for the prices they charge. As for the shrimp, not fresh, over battered, and presentation is absolutely pathetic. I asked the waiter if the shrimps were fresh, he commented they come in every day raw and unmolested l, these were most definitely pre-prepped, frozen, and then deep fried. Yuk!
I had 2 drinks, the guacamole and the coconut shrimp. $1600 pesos! That is absurd. Puerto Vallarta will soon not exist if the prices don’t reflect the crappy food that all the beach front restaurants provide. It’s not quality just rubbish. The restaurant was half full during peak lunch hour and now I know why. I won’t be back, EVER.

We stopped off at the Blue Shrimp for breakfast. Nice location right on the beach. My husband took the breakfast deal which was decent value. I specifically went there for the Acai bowl. It was small, with only 3 raspberries, 4 blueberries and a little sprinkling of granola to one side. It had turned to liquid before I finished eating it - pretty awful and it cost 240 pesos. Also the restaurant did not serve decaffeinated coffee. Very disappointing.

There isn’t a single thing I could complain about with this place - The Blue Shrimp was amazing in every way! The service from Pedro and his team was 10/10, the food was amazing (I ordered the catch of the day which was Mahi Mahi, raw oysters and fresh homemade salsa), and the vibe with the music and waves crashing was 5 star worthy. The mahi and oysters were so fresh and so tasty. I would definitely come back to The Blue Shrimp - if friendliness of the waiters, AND amazing food and vibe are what you’re looking for, look no further!
