About

2024
San Angel Cafe (pronounced Ann hell)is an icon of Vallarta, open since 1998 it has been providing only the best service and quality foods and beverages, both to the locals and the tourist alike. We pride ourselves to be the introducers of gurmet coffee drinks to this town way before Satrbucks even knew it existed. Our concept is a Gourmet Diner, somewhwere where you can dine, wine or simply have coffee and pastries from our Calorie Gallery. We are two retaurants (separated by time rather than by space) under one roof, one is what is known by the american and canadian expats as The Breakfast Club, where you can have both, american and mexican breakfast. The other is The Hamburger Grill that features our list of very interesting burgers made with Angus Prime Beef prpared with our 20 year old recipe. San Angel is located in Olas Altas the main street of what we call the Latin Quarter of Vallarta, in a corner with a full sidewalk area where you can "watch the crazies walk by" and have fun while townspeople do their daily stuf. Come and have a delightfull couple of hours with us, and bring your dog too!

If you're looking for a dining experience that combines exceptional service with outstanding food, look no further than Cafe San Angel! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a vibrant atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home.
Our evening was truly made special by our delightful waitress, Marina, whose wonderful Argentinian charm added a personal touch to our visit. She was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had everything we needed while also sharing her extensive knowledge of the menu.
Marina recommended the “Los Angeles Burrito,” and it was hands down the most delicious burrito I have ever tasted! As a vegan, I can't tell you how refreshing it is to find options that are bursting with flavor and creativity. The combination of fresh ingredients and the perfect seasoning made every bite a delight. I can honestly say it set a new standard for vegan cuisine!
The entire dining experience felt like a celebration, thanks to Marina and the warm, inviting atmosphere at Cafe San Angel. We’re already planning our next visit and can’t wait to savor more of their incredible offerings—and, of course, to see Marina again!

Cafe San Angel – A Must-Visit in Puerto Vallarta
If you’re in Puerto Vallarta, Cafe San Angel is a dining experience you can’t miss. From the moment we arrived, our server, Elizabeth, made us feel like family with her warmth, attentiveness, and expert menu recommendations.
The food? Absolutely amazing. The BLT was crisp and fresh, the Taco Salad vibrant and flavorful, the Wetback Beef Burrito hearty and comforting, and the Border Patrol Burger juicy and satisfying. Every bite was a delight, and the portions were generous, offering incredible value.
With its welcoming atmosphere, fantastic food, and top-notch service (shoutout to Elizabeth!), Cafe San Angel is a gem we’ll happily return to. Highly recommend!

We ordered a 20 tacos platter, and my good they were all so delicious! I love coming here! The pastor, and carne asada tacos were so. Delicious. They came with some great condiments that made the tacos so much more tasty. Recommended for all!

The servers were very friendly and quite knowledgeable about the menu and gave good recommendations on what was good. I ordered from the special menu and got the burrito bowl which was very good with a lot of food. The Carne tacos were perfect as well.

I visited around noon and was offered both breakfast and lunch menus. Since I had read online they were known for their hamburgers, I decided to order one of the nearly 15 varieties. Other than the sliders, they are each 1/2 pound or larger and can be ordered as chicken instead of beef. I chose the cheesy burger (195 pesos) which was a large patty smothered with a nice amount of melted cheese and served with tomatoes, lettuce and pickles on the side. The burger was on a bun that was excellent! It was soft, but nicely toasted and covered with sesame and poppy seeds. A perfect bun for the burger. Fries were served as a side to the burger and were piping hot and very good. The two waiters that I spoke with were very helpful and spoke great English, and I loved that I could pay with my credit card. I returned a week later for a second visit and sampled their chicken tortilla soup. It was a large bowl and very filling.

Cafe San Angel is one of our “go to” spots on trips to Puerta Vallarta - perfect corner location to watch the city wake up and to catch up with friends passing by. We visited recently for dinner and our group of four was pleasantly surprised with the variety on the menu, the quality of the food, and most of all, the warmth of the service. The burgers and fries were excellent, as were the chicken enchiladas. Our server, Nadia, took very good care of us and even though the restaurant was busy, our service was prompt and attentive.

For the past ten years we have been spending a great part of our winters in Puerto Vallarta and Cafe San Angel has been our to go place for countless dinners and , at times, just for coffee or after dinner drinks. San Angel offers an extensive menu and their dishes never disappointed us: tasty, well presented , and reasonably priced. Elizabeth and Nadia have been working there for many years; they always greet us with a smile and provide exceptional service. I highly recommend Cafe San Angel: great location, good food and outstanding service.

What was one of my personal favorite lunch spots is now completely off the radar today. It was quite busy at lunch so we expected a bit of a wait. However, after a long while we were given menus. About 10 minutes later (a fair time considering the business in the place) we were asked for our drink and lunch order. We were not ready yet to order lunch but did manage to get a drink order in to our server, Raoul.
He was quite unfriendly and I even inquired about his father, the owner of the Cafe San angel. He had no time to talk to us. When we were finally able to get his attention we placed our lunch order. Again, rude and unpleasant, nice Raoul!
Forty minutes later, still no food. We tried to order more drinks. We had overheard that the kitchen was experiencing "issues". By this time Raoul was starting to lose it. We asked again for our second round of drinks and he angrily snapped at us that he did not like "our attitude" and that "we should leave". We said fine, give us the bill. I guess that they were unable to generate a bill due to the "issues" they were experiencing - never related to us just what those "issues" were either - so he just yelled at us across the restaurant to "leave, leave now and forget the bill, just go". So we did, we just went and will not return and we will tell all of our friends about this ill treatment from the server (the owner's son!) and write this in several other on-line review forums. Would you enjoy being treated like this! WARNING: do not go if they are busy and do not let Raoul serve you! Raoul Sr., if you read this, I would suggest that you please have a chat with your son about proper manners in the workplace.

I’m so embarrassed that I can hardly find words to justify your terrible experience here.
Judging by your comment it seems to me that you know me and our establishment from before with better results.
Yesterday like you mention, we experienced an “issue” The ticket printer that relays the orders to the kitchen stopped working and by the time the staff realized it half an hour had passed, Creating a backlog that, compounded, pushed service for almost an hour.
That’s when chaos reached the dining room.
That doesn’t justify the treatment you received from my son and he has been reprimanded accordingly. I can only say that I’m disappointed for his behavior and lack of composure through critical situations.
I would like to amend the situation by allowing me to buy you lunch and tend to you personally.
Sorry again :

Don’t miss this place. Easily one of the best meals we have ever had in PV. Nadia our server was attentive and fun, she was the icing on the cake. The tuna ceviche is top notch. We also enjoyed fish tacos, you get five of them, a real meal not the appetizer type you find at other places. We will be back, regardless of where you are in PV make the trip to Cafe San Angel.
Oh, the drinks… yes they are top of the line, we had great mango margaritas, perfect match on a hot early evening in Zona Romantica.
Again, don’t just walk by, step in have a great experience.

This spot was recommended by my hotel clerk and he was not lying - the food was delicious. I had tacos al pastor. Very tasty and plenty of food for a late dinner. Elizabeth was my server and was very attentive without hovering. 5 stars for her too! The location is right in the middle of the popular area by the pier (with the cool sailing sculpture) but with very affordable prices. Highly recommended!

On a solo trip to PV, I frequently visited this café, the food, margaritas and service were great, and it is a great spot for people watching! Elizabeth was my server most days, she was lovely. Menu items I recommend are: strawberry margarita, el pastor tacos, and chiliquilies.

My partner and I went Cafe San Angel for breakfast and it was delicious!
We both ordered the Hotcakes with Bacon and Eggs, as well as a lemonade and mimosa. Food came out quickly, was fresh and really good.
Unfortunately it was our last day in PV, otherwise we would've been back in the mornings for some coffee and panckakes! 10/10.

I visited this restaurant today, not for the first time... I love the "Good Karma" veggie burger! It's delicious, and that's what made me want to come back on this occasion. Other times I've ordered other sandwiches, such as their chicken salad or tuna salad, which are also great. The servers are friendly and attentive (Elizabeth attended us today), the portions are generous, and the location is very convenient for where we like to stay in Puerto Vallarta.
My spouse ordered the Thai Chicken (not the exact name on the menu, which I forget). He said it was OK but he wasn't as enthusiastic as I was. We'll definitely be back, though!
