We were recommended this place by local young people at the store for lunch. Great lunch - they only have set menu 70 peso per person comes with soup of the day, main dish, dessert and fruit flavour water (that is what they said on the menu but it is really juice). It was really good! I would definitely go... More

We ate at this quaint corner restaurant twice for breakfast during our vacation. It is very authentic, clean, and friendly. The menu is not very large, but everything was fresh and flavorful. We had Mexican style scrambled eggs and beverages. The eggs were awesome! Their coffee is great. Prices are incredibly reasonable. Excellent location...across from the beautiful cathedral.

We've eaten breakfast here the last 2 years. Tasty and cheap; clean and friendly. I liked the chilachiles and fresh squeezed orange juice.

We order at least one of each thing on their menu to try. Tostados, crispy tacos, sopes, tamales for a grand total of 119 pesos or $6.00 for dinner for the two of us. Good local comida. Mostly locals dining there.

Great authentic Mexican food, preferably come during the week as weekends are always crazy and wait times can be long.

We had dinner here one night and liked it so much that we returned for breakfast the next day and for dinner again a couple of days later. The food is basic Mexican but very well prepared with good ingredients. It's a pretty restaurant but simple and not too cute. I would say the style is genuine Mexican and the... More

Thanks to TA, we found this little gem on our recent vacation. Loved it. Our waiter was a young man who had lived in the States for many years, and he was so helpful with recommendations, the story behind the restaurant and the pozole, and gave us a sample. This is authentic Mexican food and atmosphere. It's not fancy. But... More

Really wanted to love this place. It's quaint, popular and almost good. For the price you get a lot. Soup, entre and dessert! Unfortunately I ordered asada. I thought I had the most rubbery meat at a different restaurant but this just won the title. But everything else was ok. Would I go back? There's a gazillion other places to... More

Tried it for lunch. Food was great. Very tasty. Soup, main course, and a fruit drink, all included. Service excellent and as they say in Mexico "almost free". We'll be back!

El Campanario is plain and simple - only a few items on the menu, no frills. But the cooking is outstanding and at an extraordinarily reasonable price. The pozole - noted by the New York Times! - is a real standout, but you can't go wrong here.
