We are very particular and appreciate off the beaten path places. Carmelita's was simply fantastic! So good that we spent most of our day there drinking Mezcal, cold beer and yummy fresh green juice and after we satiated our hunger at lunch we ordered dinner to go! Our server, Silvia was remarkably accommodating and helpful. The food was "off the... More

I believe when renowned Chefs like Rick Bayless, Marcus Samuelsson and Wolfgang Puck come to a hole in the wall in Mexico to eat, somehow they might appreciate the food, so I just follow them. This place is run and operated by Carmelita herself, along with her family. The food is authentic, beyond delicious, freshly made and unique. You find... More

This is a family run operation that knows the true definition of great service. From the minute you walk in they make you feel right at home! The place is spotless and has a tropical vibe! We had the variety quesadilla plate as an appetizer along with our fresh squeezed juice. You won't get that anyplace else. For breakfast I... More

Ah Carmelita's! Already been three times this trip. Loved the enmolados, the chile rellenos, and the pasilla. If you want great food, go here.

Staff have absolutely nailed customer service. Very very helpful. Thanks to Carmen for spending so much time advising us and especially the recommendation to visit Ixtapa Island. Food and coffee were excellent.

This was the best meal we had in Zihuatanejo and we cannot wait to go back next time we are there. The flavors are beyond anything I've ever had in my life. There's a reason Rick Bayless loves this place! Go visit them! Not only is the food great, Carmelita and her family are wonderful people and take great pride... More

How good is a restaurant when it's only open from 8:00-4:30? When it's Carmelitas Cafe. I've only been for breakfast but the breakfast is unbelievable. They start off with your drinks, then they move onto the bread cart. Try the corn cake. You will have never tasted anything so moist. It was awesome. My son ordered 2 sunny side up... More

We had to go because of the rave reviews, my husband went on our last vacation but this was my first time. Be prepared for the menus completely in Spanish so you have to trust the awesome girls to suggest their specialties. My husband and I with our 8 year old son thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Our son isn't that... More

Description
We are a family business for over 20 years we were located within the Airport Zihuatanejo, the business was called "Snack Bar - El Mirador"; but in 2008 we decided to leave the anonymity and moved to town with a new "Carmelite Cafe" concept. The mission of Carmen and Don Jesus was always clear, offer our customers the best dining experience in Zihuatanejo. During these years we have been aware of the importance of treating our guests like family. We pride ourselves everyday to trust Cafe Carmelites to treat at home; therefore, we insist that the recipes of Mrs. Carmelita, always keep the flavor of the Mexican family kitchen. We will always have an eye to providing the best quality in each of our dishes; leaving aside, a friendly smile and a humble to serve our customers heart. We cook for you like for our own home, without shortcuts, no frills, with love.
