I have been living in Mexico City for seven years and I have been going to La Vienet over and over. They offer a daily menu for less than 8-10 US$, depending of exchange rate and they also have fantastic breakfast.

La Vienet offers Mexican food that people from the Capital use to have for breakfast. Foreigners can enjoy tipical meals because they are not spicy. It is not expensive and the home cooking is tasty. My only concern is that tables are so close that everybody is able to listen to neighboors' conversations.

So we had heard of this place through trip advisor and it had a lot of great reviews. Even though it has a nice location and is in a beautiful house the place has a wierd ambiance, the lights were all exposed florescent bulbs which wasnt ideal. We figured the decorations and lighting didnt matter as long as the food... More

Delightful neighbourhood Comida style restaurant. Just loved it. For $M 150, you get 1 choice of about 5 entrees, main, then coffee tea and piece of cake. Enjoy an intimate break and glass of wine or beer. Or have a long group lunch.

This charming restaurant is located in the Coyoacan section of Mexico City. Judging by the diners, it is clearly a neighborhood favorite. We stopped for lunch on our way to the Trotsky Museum (also worth a visit). The food is excellent and the staff is very attentive. The bread basket included tasty cornbread. I had the "New York Burger," their... More

Either you are a tourist or a local fellow, you will find this place very good, it has several years working and they have a standard menu with at least 4 options (entry, main dish, dessert+coffee) for less than 9 USD (7 €) very good, for the lunch. For breakfast it is also good enough, is small place for about... More

La Vienet is located in a little house in one picturesque Coyoacan corner. The place is quite small and it does get a bit crowded after 10AM so get there early. The food is homemade Mexican food that feels like you are eating at home. I like the Chilaquiles (tortillas with chicken with green tomato) and the Picaditas Mañaneras.(Sopes with... More

Depends. The breakfast is fine. The lunch, not very. The house is ancient and lovely. You have to get there early if you intend to have breakfast. It´s around the corner from Frieda´s house.

What a wonderful find. Seems totally local. We sat next to a table of 4 generations of women excitedly planning some family event. Our brunch was delicious and came with a plate of fruit and Americano coffee, which we replaced with cafe con leche.

Staying in Coyoacan

Neighbourhood Profile
Coyoacan
Once you step into Coyoacán (“Land of the Coyotes”) you'll find picturesque parks and cantinas that will transport you back to the colonial era thanks to the brick and stone details of the area. Iconic writers such as Trotsky and great painters like Frida Kahlo seeked refuge and inspiration in this area, and you can see the unique spirit of this neighborhood reflected in its colorful market where nieves, sopes and all kinds of traditional 'antojitos' are a must try. Restaurants and cafés throughout its peaceful paved streets contain traditional but unique murals and decorations, where one can enjoy a mezcal at noon or the best churros with a cup of coffee.
