Went to celebrate my mother's birthday. A party of 11. While the food, as always, was excellent, our waiter was really, really bad... although we all ordered at the same time, dishes were brought in different times; he even forgot one of our orders! We called on the Maitre'D, on the manager, other waiters but to no avail.

Heard so much rave about this place, even from the locals which made us really excited about visiting. I have to say though I was seriously disappointed cause IMO this is not even close to being one of the best restaurants in Mex City. The food was okay, but that's it, nothing spectacular. We had escamoles which were mixed with... More

There was a long line to wait but it worth it. To book in advance will be better. It is a regular place which is not luxury but with the best service ever. If you get there by taxi they can arrange another taxi back to your hotel or any other place. We found a good variety of traditional dishes.... More

The conversations around us were mostly in English. The waiter spoke perfect English. He pushed us hard to order wine with lunch, and after we declined, someone else turned up with a bottle and gave us another sales pitch. When we were paying the check, the guy using the credit card machine urged us to leave a 20% tip. Food... More

Everything at Nico's makes you want to come back for more. From the service to the food and cocktails, you'll understand why this restaurant is always busy. Some of the best Guacamole I've ever had, freshly prepared by your table. And also, if for no other reason then the show and time and care they put into making it, order... More

It truly is one of the great restaurants in Mexico City. It is small and unpretentious but the food is fabulous and the service is superior. I live here and I love fine food so I have eaten in any number of the top restaurants here in the DF. If you're looking for ambiance go to someplace like the San... More

Nicos Mexico is a truly unassuming place. It is in a regular neighborhood on a commercial street. It is not terribly well identified and a little hard to find. The inside is very spartan with simple tables in a white room. But then you notice the white tablecloths and impeccably dressed waiters. There is a sparkling mezcal cart and a... More

I loved this place. We went for breakfast. Service was amazing and the food was great too. My girlfriend had the eggs in salsa with black beans on top and I had the thin steak with tortilla chips in salsa and refried beans. They also do great fresh juices. I would highly recommend the spiced hot chocolate from Oaxaca. Would... More

Went to this place with my brother who is a glorified foodie and I was impressed. The place is unassuming, and when I say "unassuming" I mean it literally. Be prepared to look for a place that sits inside an old building that looks more like a run down government office building. There are not even signs outside that can... More

The Mexican food is incredible. The seasoning right at the point without being overwhelming. The wine chart is ample, with a very good selection of Mexican wines, but the most amazing are the prices. Based on my experience never more than twice the store prices. The same can be said about the tequila, mezcal and beer selection. Finally the service... More

Staying in Azcapotzalco

Neighbourhood Profile
Azcapotzalco
Home of the Tepeneca people, Azcapotzalco has remained faithful to its roots even as time has passed. Beautiful details abound throughout its gardens, houses and other historical buildings such as the Casa de la Cultural. The works of Siqueiros, Diego Rivera and O'Gorman are in abundance and should not be missed while exploring the area. Walk through the streets and have a taste of the neighborhood, which can be found at the bottom of a good cup of coffee or a scoop of an artisanal ice cream to cool down. Once the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than going out to visit classic cantinas to grab a drink where the nostalgia of the beautiful atmosphere comes to life.
