We went to lunch at El Cardenal our first afternoon in Mexico City. It was a quick walk from our hotel in the Centro Historico neighborhood. Honestly, it felt like a 5-star dining experience. The dining areas are beautiful with great views out the open windows and the wait staff is both formal and friendly. The food was excellent, and... More

We got there at 8am and the place was packed with local people and business people having breakfast. The hot chocolate was fabulous and we all enjoyed all of the food we ordered. Fruit salads were huge and the egg dishes were delicious. The menu is in Spanish and nobody speaks English do we we're glad to have our phrase... More

I loved this restaurant! I had lunch and ordered a salad (ensalada de fruta y queso con miel de maguey), and it was the tastiest food I had in Mexico City! The waiters were also very helpful and kind (muchas gracias!)! I will definitely go back to this place when I am in Mexico City again.

We tried to go on our 29th anniversary but they close at 6:30??? So we went for breakfast and it was very good. The menu is mostly very traditional with flavors of the surrounding area, just don't try to go for dinner.

The food was delicious and the waiters were fantastic. We had typical Mexican food . Patos para taquear, delicious with tortillas que parecían recién hechas. (Tasted like they were just made) Pollo con mole negro, chicken with black mole, different but very good. Large variety of moles, wish I had more days and a larger stomach to taste them all.... We enjoyed a very nice leisurely lunch at El Cardanal on a recent trip to Mexico City. Service was prompt and cheerful, and the food ample and delicious. Would thoroughly recommend.

This is hands down the best restaurant to go for breakfast! They make their own bread, which is truly fantastic! Try the nata with a fresh baked bolillo. The cordero flautas are also amazing, as well as their great selection of different juices. Love this place!!! Watch for the line though, the wait can be veeeery long!!
