One of life's little joys when travelling is people watching and the Zocalo is one of the best places to do this Oaxaca. La Casa de la Abuela sits on the second floor overlooking both the plaza which is an UNESCO world heritage site and the Catedral de Nuestra Señora De La Asunción. Half the charm of this restaurant is... More

We loved our visit here! We tried one starter (flowered squash? Or something), and three of us shared four main dishes - chili rellano with pork (highly recommended), mole coloradita (delicious), and the chilaquiles with streak (my personal fave). We all had margaritas, nice and strong. And most dishes were about $99-$150 or so but super reasonable with portions. Of... More

We were there on a Friday afternoon. Great escape from the heat with a nice breeze. It has wonderful view of the Zocalo. We had the Colorado mole and chille rellenos. We found both dishes excellent. We woul not hesitate to return.

This place is a must! The meal we had was very authentic and so tasty! They also serve the best Jamaica drink. The service was impeccable and the view is fantastic.

The food was disappointing, and the wine was terrible. They had only one type of red wine, and it was almost undrinkable. We were the only ones in the restaurant at 8 pm on a Friday night.

We ducked up a staircase to emerge into a beautiful restaurant surrounded by homey touches that I could remember from my own grandmothers. The fresh made tortillas tasted as wonderful as they smelled whilst cooking. We sat by a window and watched the happy celebrations on the street.

We ate here our first night in Oaxaca and it was a great place to start. The service is very friendly and I was able to get a sampling of four different moles so I could see which ones I liked best. The food is basic but a good introduction to the local cuisine, and as others have pointed out,... More

We ate here twice and the food was excellent both times. We found the mole amarillo very tasty. We were also lucky enough to get window tables with great views of the plaza.
