We loved this place. We were able to sit at a pleasant table near the a window, and our waitress, the owner, was very helpful and nice. We had the Oaxacan mole negro enchilados and the red chile enchilados, and they were both very good,...More

El Escapulario - they have two menus, with one explaining the food in English. Estelle did her best in trying to explain items to us,although our understanding of Spanish is very limited. So the menu helped immensely. This is a wonderful restaurant to be introduced...More

Just spent a week in Oaxaca and it is easy to see why it is considered the culinary capital of Mexico. The city is quickly developing a reputation for creative upscale cuisine however these restaurants could not exist if it were not for places like...More

Ester, the owner, cook, and waitress at El Escapulario, is divine, as are her Chile Rellenos with orange sauce. Not one to typically order dishes with oranges or orange juice, I was convinced by Ester to give this dish a shot. After the first bite...More

Went here for dinner and shared the Oaxacan tasting platter. Good range of delicious food, but slightly overpriced at $300 pesos. Also ordered the mango juice which was warm and very watery. Still enjoyed our meal but expected more for the price.

This pace has the most magical atmosphere, even better... they make the best food you can get. I went twice and felt that I should have gone more. The 5 moles were beyond delicious, but bring a friend!

I must admit that I didn't actually stay here and have a meal. It is extremely rare for me to leave a restaurant after I've been seated but this was one of those times. I don't eat meat - just vegetarian and seafood dishes. So...More

The food was very good - excellent mole. The restaurant is small and we had to wait a hour and a half to get our meal.

We really liked the family feel but we didn't really get on with the mole which we found a bit one dimensional - lump of meat covered in thick sauce. After this we gave up on traditional Oaxacan cuisine. Another couple there had a giant...More
