From the amuse-buche to the ceviche and fish with dried fruits and mole, I enjoyed everything here. Good selection of mezcals as well. The food is modern, but incorporates traditional flavors and ingredients. English menu available.

Best restaurant we ate at in Oaxaca...everything was superb. Many small special touches starting with the "smoked" salad...highly recommend

I had heard great things of this restaurant. Was not dissapointed. Ordered the nine plate menu. The waiter explained every single one as they came out. Every plate was different, colorful, beautifully presented. Very very good food. Good prices. Walking distance from almost every hotel in the city. Highly recommended.

Great food. Particularly enjoyed the way smoke was used to flavor the salad. The restaurant was lovely and the service was impeccable. Attentive without being intrusive.

We combined the six course tasting menu with a bottle of Spanish wine. Nothing disappointed, but the meal stands out as perhaps our third best in Oaxaca. Service was fine, and the food was good.

Honestly, I've had the Pig Ear Risotto three times this year and it is a can't miss dish. Our friends had oxtail which was delicious and scrumptious suckling pig. One problem with undercooked shrimp was the only time we've seen a problem here. Apologies and the the offer of a substitute dish were forthcoming. Very professional. We weren't charged for... More

The staff was welcoming and gracious. The food was inventive and well prepared. I particularly enjoyed the banana molote and chocolate forest dessert.

Not quite the birthday feast that I had imagined.... from the 'manager' with a bad attitude, to quite possibly the worst dessert I have ever tried - the reviews are generous, the food is medicore and the atmosphere non- existant. Skip it and eat elsewhere...

Despite the rather large and overwhelming menu filled with many types of cuisine as well as traditional Oaxacan fare, a great option at Pitiona are the very affordable 6- and 9-course tasting menus. We went with the 6-course which was, frankly, more than enough food given the generous selection of bread and tortillas that is included. The tasting menu changes... More
