Best bread, delicious mexican breakfast, moderate price, quick service, clean place. We come here since ages, this place never disappoints.

There are lots of places with good food in Tampico but El Itacate is the Best! Went there for the first time 3/26 and had to go again in 3/27... Amazing food! I especially enjoyed their Milanesa de Pollo Ranchera. That's like breaded chicken breast in a slightly spicy sauce with potatoes.. Also tried their Tortilla Soup and pastries and... More

It is a nice place, climate, and the best of this place are the "bisquetes", I haven't found any similar in all México, they can be served with strawberry marmalade, or simply with butter.

My wife and I visited El Itacate this past week in March 2015. It was a Sunday evening around 8pm and restaurant was crowded! Jam packed and filled with families of all ages. The place is a nice decent size place with booths and tables. There is a bakery side and the restaurant side. The food and service was perfect.... More

Nothing excellent about it. Food is over priced and very plain. Terrible arroz con pollo y queso. Just OK service.

Food is nothing above average. Just good bread and ok coffee, main meals are very ordinary and a bit overpriced for what you get. The place is also very loud and has terrible service, it takes forever to get a waiter to bring you something besides bread. What I found to be terrible and preposterous was the ignorance and lack... El Itacate is a local bakery and restaurant famous for its sweetbread and Mexican/regional food. Lomas de Rosales is its nicest location (and only one with parking). Despite tough competition from national chains it remains a locals' favorite for breakfast, dinner or just having a coffee or tea. I really like their chilaquiles and enpipianadas (a kind of non-spicy enchilada).... More

This is a casual restaurant, popular with locals, best for breakfast, don’t miss the “pan dulce” (sweet bread) a Mexican tradition, here is very very good, has its own bakery, you don’t have to go to México city or other place to taste it at is best, ask for “chocolate caliente” or “café con leche”, I tried the quesadillas on... Fine bakery. Great for power breakfasts. Bocoles, is a popular dish. but not at the height of the best.
