We called in here on Thursday, which happened to be the day for pensioners. The meal was very good value at two courses for £10 each. The soup was excellent followed by gammon, egg and chips and in the case of my husband, sausage and mash, with, he said, delicious gravy. The service was good and a friendly atmosphere. Certainly... I have recently arranged a meal for a group of 13 at the George and it was superb. The restaurant is in part of the old coaching inn with oak beams, a gigantic fireplace with a roaring open fire and a listed oak door. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful, the service was great and the food excellent.... More

Very warm welcome after a rather wet walk. Asked to pre order food before setting of on a 7 mile walk. Really good idea as the food was ready as served just after we had our beers served . Nice selection of well kept beer Coffee also very good

We spent an hour here after a short circular walk. The beer was excellent and the pub was dog friendly. We didn't have food so I cannot comment on that.

After a rather trying week my husband and I decided that we deserved a treat, so booked us and the children in for Sunday lunch. My husband and our son had the roast beef, whilst our daughter and I had the roast pork. The pork was delicious, and the crackling was some of the best we have ever had! (Daughter... More

My family and I arrived to this picturesque village pub where we were welcomed by friendly staff and a lovely selection of Ales. We were put in the restaurant where we had a superb Roast Dinner which we miss now living out in Los Angeles. I recommend the Roast Beef and a pint of Old Hooky to anyone that goes!

Came on here to write a review of our Sunday lunch and I have to say I'm VERY surprised at the review below... Doesn't seem like the same place?? Anyway, my husband and I decided to treat our daughter to a proper Sunday roast and this place was recommended by some friends. What a fab pub! Beautiful bar full of... More

Upon walking into the quaint little village pub, I felt warmed and welcomed as soon as I walked through the door! I came with a few members of my family. You can tell this was a local pub, with a very cosy relaxed atmosphere! All staff were very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble! We dined at 13.30pm, and... More

Five of us, including a cousin from California, booked for sunday lunch. We arrived at the appointed hour, namely 12.30, looking forward to a nice traditional British roast lunch. The young lad who greeted us was very pleasant, and eventually brought our drinks to table, at which point we placed our orders for the lunch (at 12.45). No-one ordered starters.... More
