Unfortunately, there was an overwhelming smell of bleach on entering this pub, which didn't go away even when our food had arrived. The various food on offer sounded great and tasted just as good - good vegetarian options. The pub is lovely, food is good value, beer is ok apparently. Good customer service. Just a shame about the bleach.

This was a surprise. Despite the good reviews we were not convinced that this would be a decent pub. We went for Sunday lunch. It was terrific. We both had starters, 'pigeon breast and bacon salad' and 'potato and truffle soup'. Both were delightful. Mains were both roasts, beef and the other turkey. Well cooked, tasty and well presented. Although... More

We drove past this place many times before hearing it was the place to go in Mountsorrel. The rough exterior wasn't promising but we were very pleasantly surprised. Good selection of beers (well kept) and friendly, knowledgeable young staff. We revisited for food, easily the best meal we've had out for a long time. Again, great service and top notch... More

This is my local pub and I'm so pleased it's within walking distance. Great real ales and proper locals to chat to if you are on your own. The food is supposed to be good too. A highly recommended proper pub.

I may be one of those sad old farts mentioned in the last review! Very funny! I might be an old fart, but I'm usually very happy.! The bar IS covered in gold we have to keep an eye on it.!! I am proud that we have such a friendly local in the village that serves good beer and food.... More

Unless you've lived in Mountsorrel all your life give this place a miss. If you manage to get past the sad old farts sitting round the bar then you are doing well, as they guard it like it's covered in gold. Once over that obstacle you have to get served, so good luck with that one. In saying all that... More

Called on the off chance for a late Saturday booking and was pleased to hear they could fit us in and that they had a vegan option on the menu. Quite surprising for such a quaint, old pub. I was happy with the vegan option but the chef offered two more meals which sounded interesting so I chose the stuffed... More
