Wow were we surprised when we walked into this restaurant! Beautiful garden setting, superb service, and the owner was checking on everyone's tables all evening. A fantastic gentlemen playing the guitar made for a lovely evening. The made at your table Cesar salad was the best we have ever had! I enjoyed the sea bass filet with fresh grilled vegetables... We took our teenage children to dinner at El Matador. It is a little difficult to find and in a rather residential area. We were seated in a beautiful quiet little inner courtyard. There was only one other table enjoying dinner so it was a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Not sure how well little children would do here. The service... More

Check this out when in Los Cabos. Great food served in a very neat outdoor courtyard. Service was top notch and owner made a point to come over and introduce himself and insure that we were happy with everything. Really enjoyed this restaurant!

A bit off the beaten path, we actually ate there in 2012. I said to my wife on the ride over from the hotel (which was recommended because everything else was booked) "either this is the best restaurant or god knows how this will end". Thankfully it was a great restaurant and will be revisiting in a few months. The... More

We found this restaurant by word of mouth. It came highly recommended so we were eager to try it. It absolutely lived up to the recommendation. The Caesar salad was fixed table side and was excellent. I shared the New York Strip Steak which is sold by the ounce. By sharing we were able to have a thicker cut, each... More

El Matador was recommended to our group by a couple whose been coming to Cabo for 10 years. The patio was quaint, the service impeccable (almost white glove find dinging, old school manners), food delicious and the taste of a matador's dance and seeing the cape was unique. The coconut shrimp was delicious and I don' think my husband has... More

We happened to go to El Matador on a day when it was really quiet, and the end result was that we had that beautiful poolside terrace all to ourselves. It was a great setting for a romantic dinner. While conservative in its flavours, the food was generally very good. I would say that the prices are typical of fine... More

This was the highlight of our trip!! See my other reviews on Cabo San Lucas as it should be called Cabo Scammer Lucas!! El Matador had a lovely courtyard and extremely romantic atmosphere! The coconut shrimp was the best food I've ever eaten in my life!! Service impeccable. Attitude was in check. It was about a 10 minute drive from... More

I went to El Matador based on it's TripAdvisor rating and I was blown away. The restaurant is in a quiet residential area rather than a bogus tourist trap area. The staff is as gracious as any staff of any business in any country I have ever experienced, They set the gold standard for hospitality. The ambiance is fantastic as... More

Description
El Matador is the finest restaurant in San Jose, owned by a former Matador, Pablo Velez. It boasts Mediterranean Mexican dining. It is in a neighborhood next to the Nun's Hospital. Their Scallopine Marsala is to die for as well as the other items on the menu. Please add this restaurant to your list. I can't imagine why it hasn't been on there as we have been eating there for at least 3 or 4 years.
